Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]
" I support them when people respond with 'just play self-found'. In that you can't 'just play self found' without the time investment that very few have. Then, even with that time investment, you still can't 'just play self found' at end game. This is a loot-find aRPG for crying out loud yet it isn't, at all. It's a giant flaw in PoE design as an aRPG, it's an enormous embarrassment to carry the title hardcore aRPG. I just feel very attached, protective if you like, to the apparently few people left that actually want to play an aRPG, H&S, loot-finder. Casually casual. A thought just occured to me that I think would swing me back into the SFL camp, but I'm not sure I think many SFL supporters would like the idea (could be wrong, though).
I'd consider beginning to support a separate league again if it were defined as: - No trading - Obscenely increased drop rate for all orbs except mirrors - Monsters may only drop white or blue items. If youw ant rares or uniques, you have to use those orbs to make them. I think the absence of rare and unique drops would likely balance the migration and help to avert the damage I fear SFL, as currently envisioned, stands to do. In the end, though, it's a pipe dream, so it's all fairly meaningless. -EDIT- I do, acknowledge, however, that this is still failing to address the core issues. As mentioned many times before, though, I've little faith that the "Vision" will allow those issues to be addressed. I hope I'm wrong. Last edited by Thaelyn#0781 on Sep 21, 2013, 7:11:18 AM

Crafting like posted above in a self found would be awesome!
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.
Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :( Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. |

" this! call it solo DIY league... I got excited on many levels when I read this post |

"Over in my recent economy thread in Beta Feedback, I recommend changing the entire game for more* drop rate for all orbs**, and less item rarity*** (in Section 3). So obviously I think it's a good idea****... but once again, that doesn't mean we need to make new leagues to achieve better economic/crafting balance. * but not obscenely more ** didn't think about mirrors *** but not the extent of zero rares or uniques **** in moderation When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " And so almost everyone will use their chance orbs on kaom's, dream fragments, soul taker, shav's, and other OP uniques. Experimentation with mediocre uniques will rarely happen. |
|
" You have your economist hat on, in a room where economy doesn't exist, brother. Edit, and even then, I think you have it on backwards. NB. There are different rarities of uniques, this holds for chancing. I don't know the exact ratios/chances but I can tell you there is a massive difference between the common-unique and the rare-unique, MASSIVE. Casually casual. " Economy has nothing to do with it. People like being efficient, using their orbs of chance to get the most powerful items is the most efficient. The chance of rolling X unique via orb of chance is unknown to anyone but GGG. You can't tell me there is a "massive difference" unless you (or a group of people through a collective effort) burn through thousands of orbs of chance on every base item that can roll a unique. |
|
" The chance is unknown, yes. But I can tell you there is a massive difference, I just did. FWIW, a minimum of 3000 through siege axes, oculists, chain belts etc...result 2 infernal mantles. I'll leave it to you to waste some precious chance orbs on a base that only has a common unique, I don't need to, because in these leagues, they drop like rain. Casually casual. Why is it that, nine times out of ten, when someone talks about build diversity they do so in a way that completely ignores player freedom?
If someone wants to play a build centered around Kaom's, Shav's, Soul Taker, etc, who gives a damn? It's their character and their choice. You can't enforce build diversity short of arbitrarily assigning build upon character creation. As for " What makes the likelihood of people building around hard to chance uniques any higher in this fantasy league than it already is in the existing leagues? It would be much more difficult to acquire them in such a league than it is now in standard and HC. |
