He should ignore it. Since when should people put aside what the think could make the game better simply because it might require GGG to do more work?

I would just rather GGG prioritize improving the game for everyone over those who refuse to trade no matter what.

I don't see buffing maps and nerfing magic find fixing the issue that currency is better spent trading than crafting (gambling). Maybe it will slightly help but the issue will remain. Lets see what happens at release, my guess is the game will remain largely unchanged in this area.

They can do both. Leagues have always been on the table, asking for a self found league is nothing crazy. Who is refusing to trade?

The reason currency is better spent on trading than crafting is because the RNG of crafting favors wealthy people over poor people. Reducing the difference between a wealthy person and a non-wealthy person will address this issue at its core, and this can be done by making maps give more MF and stacking it with gear instead of multiplying it, as well as allowing people to sell their gear without spending hours spamming trade chat and/or maintaining a forum thread.

Unfortunately, you continue to miss the point of what self-found players want. I sincerely hope GGG make trading better. If they do, for those willing to use the system, it will make playing in the existing leagues even easier. However, regardless of what they do with it, it will have no bearing on SFL. People who choose to play self-found, do so because they believe trading takes the enjoyment from the game. Moreover, the majority couldn't care less about other peoples wealth or how they choose to use it.

At the end of the day, you want a game that will allow you to buy and sell your way to end-game. I, and other self-found players, want a game that will allow us to to reach end-game by any means other than trading. Quite honestly, even if GGG don't provide SFL, I will continue playing they way I always have (without trading) and I suspect other self-found advocates will too.

I doubt he's oblivious to that. However, the point you're missing is: what self-found players want is not the point. The objective is:

Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. We're a small independent team of hardcore gamers based in New Zealand and have created Path of Exile as the game that we'd want to play ourselves. It is designed around a strong barter-based online item economy, deep character customisation, competitive PvP and ladder races. The game is completely free and will never be "pay to win".
To the extent that self-found is for "hardcore gamers," is the extent to which it matches the mission. To the extent which it undermines a "strong barter-based online item economy," it is contrary to the mission.

For a few, such as Fourist, self-found does genuinely seem to be about being hardcore. But for the most part, it seems the underlying motive behind this entire thread is to undermine a barter-based online economy; thus, for the most part, this thread undermines Path of Exile.

You have a point Scrotie however GGG has been undermineing themselves plenty lately.

They have undermined their philosophy on uniques, they have undermined their own crafting system by the right way to play being to not even use it.

They stated once long ago that they wanted loot tension but then created loot options because of popular demand.

Therefore I don't think people should abandon this topic based on one sentence they wrote long ago.

Descent Races!

"
Players asked for leagues that didn't filter back into the regular leagues upon death. This would mean that we could potentially change item drop rates and how items are given out. Many players said they felt that the choice between using currency items in the race or keeping them for regular play diminished the fun of a race.

Surprise! I completely endorse the league proposed by Fourist. As far as undermining the trade system, if we don't currently trade, moving use to a league where we also won't trade won't damage anything. Now you can replay your other argument and continue trying to undermine this idea.

You keep treating trading as it is now, completely ignoring the fact that it could be improved in ways that make crafting better. I'm advocating a way that will not require any active trading action in order to obtain crafting materials. Just a one time opt-in for a stash tab which will become indexed, and in time attract buyers which will offer you currency for what's in your stash. What you do with the currency then is completely up to you. Want to buy an item? Go for it. Want to craft? Works just as well, provided that issues with MF and Maps are resolved in a way that not only the top 1% can get away with crafting.

I do not want a game that will allow me to buy and sell my way to the end-game. Never once did I say that. If I wanted such a game, I'd play D3.

Then stop asking for increased drop rates.

It's still trading.
