Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

I'm currently at that wall and have no thoughts at all about trading, or using a party to push me through it. I'll give it a good college try and if I can't break through it I'll simply quit trying.

Well, I guess this was your point.

That depends on how you see 'slow, steady, constant progression.' Because you can have that with a shit ton of RNG.

I'd say the shopping game we have now isn't an aRPG like Diablo 2, I'd say the trade-access content isn't either.

I made slow, steady, constant progress in D2. Several times on several characters.

This game has it too, up to a point. Then you hit a wall. You either get lottery luck, or trade to progress. When I played in CB, trading was rare. Now it IS the endgame, and it's not the game I signed on for.

Have you noticed when that wall pops up? That's right, just after merciless piety. And why do you think that is? Because running docks and Lunaris over and over again with MF gear is way more rewarding than maps unless you have excellent gear. And because the only way to sell your loot for currency is via spamming trade in town or spending hours maintaining a forum thread, that wall hits you hard.

The problem is there, Scrotie isn't ignoring it. There are just better solutions to the problem than setting up a separate league with an important part of the game left out of it.

I thought I'd also note, when I see part of the problem is a perception that people feel they need what the most time invested players have, I am not saying "you are all just entitled". I am saying, this is an actual problem we have, and we want to find out why we have this signalling issue.

Chase items, and godly gear and perfect mods are excellent things for keeping those players interested in the game, and giving them something to do. But we also want to have other players happy to continue for better gear without feeling like they are missing out at some core level.

And while we want a solution that works for players, we don't want to, say, add 5 hours of play to a player who was only going to play for 20 hours, in exchange for all of our 1000+ hour players, then it is not a very good solution for us.

I like this dev post. Many developers will usually just ignore something like this, or if they do see it as their problem and not the players, will never actually communicate this. I just hope you guys find a way to get around this without waiting long enough for people to get jaded and hopeless on the issue.

This is a big part of things, the trading system in place and necessity of currency to up your gear means you end up in trade chat, the absolute worst thing in the game. There's nothing I want more than for trading to be easy enough that trade chat is no longer the only place to get currency.

It's one thing I liked about D3s auction house, if you needed a commodity it wasn't a hassle to get ahold of. Only good items were tough to get. In POE, everything is a hassle.

Hi

SFL be it permanent or 1-4 month temporary

SFL:1)No trades with other players.2)No mf rolls on blue or yellow items.3)Increased orb drop rates NOT items.4)No party benefits, No loot allocation timer(what drops for you is yours alone)

I care nothing for competition, races, ladders, etc.

I want slow but steady, constant progress.

Give me a self-found league with quadruple drop rates, crafting chances

This game is still beta. I believe trading in Path of Exile was developed as an exception, and not as a requirement for gameplay. Since trading isn't overly encouraged in general, a self-found league is the ultimate beta test.

How far can the majority of players progress without trading? This is important to know

Each race and league event gives valuable info to GGG this game mechanic is long overdue to be attempted with the ending of anarchy perhaps GGG could give the players a chance to vote on a list of next league ideas?

This statement suggests to me that you (& Scrotie & others) still don't understand why many of us want a SFL in the first place; even though it has been stated and re-stated many times in multiple threads.

Okay, implement a self-found league.
Just call it [removed by admin], please.

I probably have about a dozen or more people on my friends list, that I met through trading. And I seldom trade.

If you want to play self found, no one is stopping you from doing it already, only yourself.
If you want increased drop rates, ask for that. Don't disguise one issue as another, powdered rouge is for samurai (who's gonna get that reference?).

Ad hominems aren't arguments. No one is asking for increased item drops, they are asking for increased orb drops because we think that the crafting system has some really cool potential that is negated by orbs being more valuable as trade currency than crafting materials. The reason that orb drop rates are low is because of the trade economy which some of us don't enjoy or don't want to engage in. It also has nothing to do with being antisocial as not everyone interested in a self found league wants it to be exclusively solo as well.

If you aren't going to read the arguments in favor of the SFL for comprehension, than don't bother posting your baseless and irrelevant assumptions.

I'll go back through tonight or tomorrow and double check, but I think you're very much mistaken here, Hulkcore. I believe far more people are asking for increased item drops than are not (given the two large SFL threads together, that is).

You think 40 year old virgins living in their parents basement are limited to the people who want a self found league? Your kidding yourself. That description probably makes up most every player that plays this game like a full time job, doesn't matter what league he plays in or how social he is in the game.

People realize that this would be a rather pointless request since we all know that drops are balanced around trading. Hence why we have this thread.
