Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

oh man...why people nowadays are sooo greedy? maybe they watching too much of those shitty streams and wannabe like them? wtf really? everyone tries to copy from others..

ok lets say you have 2 chars with the same build at 80 level..the one equipped with very expensive stuff from trades, 6L etc and the other on self-found and gambling with 5l etc...

and you going SOLO on HARD 70+maps constantly... What are the goddamn possibilities to die on both chars?? ...think...oh almost the same!?...thats right you found it! :)

Thats why i love this game!!! NO FACEROLLING no matter what gear you have..kinda like the D2 was the first years..

NEVER ever try to get the OP items..any mediocre would do almost the same...

boof is a very good player and in the 1 month race I was in the top 10 on the 2nd day playing solo 2h melee (different account), if people like us actually feel a problem there I don't really want to know what less masochist players think of it. Take that as you may.

Well, I really am interested in this wall. I have yet to get an idea of why it is an issue.

What precisely is the issue at this point? People do mention crafting a bit, so is it a linking issue, in which case the solution for the 40s area will also help here.

If it is a different issue, then what is it, and does it need a different solution.

That is unless you love stagnating and love wearing badly itemized trash. ( which is all that drops for the individual, pushing you to save up currency and trade)

Make the drops better, or self found is like beating your head on a brick wall.

Why do you need to compete. I don't even do races and I don't compete with anyone. I'm level 87 and someday maybe, I'll reach 100.

I'm in no rush for anything.

You twist what I meant. I'm not gonna bother repeating my self.

The problem is that I wasted like 10 exalts + to try to 6L my weapon and it's still not 6L.. Qarl, please fix this. Do I need to donate more money for packs for a "fix" *cough*...

I play strictly Self-found/HC. I would quit if they made your league, so I guess we cancel out. Here to stay in HC.

Of course we're hindered. We like it that way. If I wanted someone else to play the game for me, I'd hire some kid to come play it for me while I went out bike riding. I play solo because I know I would like the game less if someone did it for me. I'd also like it less if the developers caved in and gave solo players all the candy they cried for.

Note here that this person plays hardcore which is a more difficult league than standard.. the only thing keeping him from playing the game easier is his choice of which league to play. and yet if they added a self found league all of a sudden that would make him quit even though he wasn't forced to play it because I guess he has no self control and would HAVE to roll on that league and thereby not enjoy the game anymore.

It's going to be fairly hard to pinpoint due to the build variance, but for me it was mostly about survivability. You're at -60 resistances and you're just about to hit areas with chaos and very large physical hitters.

I suspect links may be more of an issue at lower levels.
I thought I'd also note, when I see part of the problem is a perception that people feel they need what the most time invested players have, I am not saying "you are all just entitled". I am saying, this is an actual problem we have, and we want to find out why we have this signalling issue.

Chase items, and godly gear and perfect mods are excellent things for keeping those players interested in the game, and giving them something to do. But we also want to have other players happy to continue for better gear without feeling like they are missing out at some core level.

And while we want a solution that works for players, we don't want to, say, add 5 hours of play to a player who was only going to play for 20 hours, in exchange for all of our 1000+ hour players, then it is not a very good solution for us.

Well, from what I have read, that seems to be exactly what they say. They use terms like "You just can't compete."

When they use this term, they do not mean 'compete on the ladder', they mean they can't compete for the prices of the tradable items.

There is no way a solo-self-found can amass enough currency (a very lucky one-off RNG drop excluded) to buy the equipment necessary to progress at what any sane person would identify as an 'expected' pace.

There may well be some odd individuals who don't mind going 30 days without progression on the same character, but that is not the norm, it's the extreme. Some people can hack production line jobs, some people really can't, it's a similar mind-set issue.

While I stated that solo-self-found people wouldn't 'care' if there was a league or not, people generally like seeing their names on some form of list, they like seeing what characters are most popular and which are most underused, etc. I used the words I did to deflate your misunderstanding of the word 'compete', which still seems to be persisting.

A visible league can be useful for a non-competitive player because it will help identify what is possible and what is not, it will allow them to be able to be rebellious and try and take the most unpopular build/character to the top of it. I think we're all well aware that the first 100 could all be the usual dual-sporkers, but the solo-self-founders wouldn't really 'care'.

I see, you have an issue with the drop rate/value. I guess what you or others don't like is the trading aspect of a game and want a league where the drop rate is substantially better and where there might not be a need for trading...

Meh, it's something, but rather uninteresting. Saving up and trading is a part of the game I enjoy. And finally finding that item that yields multiple exalts in trade is awesome also.

Finding that great drop for yourself once in a blue moon is cool also. To me that is ARPG.
