Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

Wow, I didn't understand anything here. I really do not see the problem here. Why do people want a self found league. What difference does it make if you play self found in a normal league or a real self found league.

Nobody is forcing nobody on anything. Nobody told me that I need a shavronne to hang with them, I could roll around with rags, nobody cares.

People have some weird expectations. These threads pop up from time to time, but I never saw a great argument for it. There's no point.

Perhaps because you don't 'want' to understand.

In a solo-self-found there wouldn't be any hanging with anybody, except chat, of course.

Here, let me spell it out again, incase you missed it:

Drop rates are dictated by the economy. A solo-self-found league would have a different drop rate to a regular league.

Ok, you got it yet?

It's not about Shavrones. It's not about Kaoms. It's not about 6 Links. It's about crafting instead of trading. It's about yellows and mods.

If you still don't get it - apparently after reading many threads about it - well... what can I say... (that doesn't get my words deleted by the mods...)

You just negate what I said without anything to back it up, or explain why, seriously?

I am very happy to hear where I have it wrong, but your comment is essentially meaningless.

Totally unrelated and everything, but please tell Chris to increase the frequency of 6L fusing. I'm tired to losing a fortune on RNG linking my items. Oh and I don't care for SFL either. So im with you on that one.

My experience suggests otherwise (but it may not apply generally), gearing up for merciless act 2 can be a bitch and then dealing with maps is entirely in a league of its own.

Mt experience doesn't. Merciless difficulty requires significant grinding by design. It's intended that you spend hours grinding for your gear once you hit the hardest content in the game. Do you really expect Merciless to be just the same as Normal? THat's certainly what you sound like when asking for a handout.

But that's it, nobody is forcing nobody to progress. If you were in a self found league and you can't progress because the drops don't cooperate what is the difference between being in a normal league or a self found. At least in a normal league you can do something about it and trade. In a self found, if you don't find what you need well that's too bad for you...

From what I have read in the huge suggestion thread is that the need to rely on the overall bad trading environment (it is pretty hard to trade compared to other games, nothing near accessible) in order to progress is what concerns some players. The suggestion of modifying drop rates accordingly to rather farm needed items successfully instead of trading in a forum or chat for gear is what drives some of them.

What Qarl pointed out is true.
The perception of needed items here may be the main problem.
However when people feel the walls they get demotivated quickly seeing the trouble that trading is.

Right. So in your theorhetical self found league it would take one week of playtime grinding maps to get good gear rather than four. I bet you'd still be right back here at the forums complaining again that you didn't get all the best gear before you finished Act 1 Normal.

I don't mean to take up your time, but I seriously doubt dealing with the lvl 40s is going to be a huge boon, at that point leveling and gaining gear is still relatively pain-free compared to the merci act 2 and map walls (though I guess this is dependent on the builds). If the 40s is a perceived problem and dealt with many people will get past that particular initial barrier and then get slapped in the face.
The point is though you can't compete as self found when the drops suck. The entire game revolves around trading.
That is unless you love stagnating and love wearing badly itemized trash. ( which is all that drops for the individual, pushing you to save up currency and trade)

Make the drops better, or self found is like beating your head on a brick wall.

[Cronk's reply has been so heavily deleted by the mods that there's now a large hole in Chris's desk underneath the delete button]

Oh hell no, I don't have a huge issue with it. I just found it strange that around lvl 40 there's a significant issue, compared to say lvl 55-60 or so.
