Self-Found (League) [Thread outdated!]

Self found is currently quite possible. Everyone just seems to want to find an exalt every 30 minutes, so they can craft the best items in the game. And be completely bored after a weeks game play. The journey is often far better than the destination, be careful.

I have 2 exalts which I will never get to use on an item because I know that if I use it I'll probably roll thorns and then I'll get depressed knowing I could have bought exactly what I wanted.

It's the psychological aspect of knowing that using my items is a sub-par way of playing in the current league that gets me very pissed.

Well, with no bleed over and having it not being temporary would basically be the same as playing Softcore by yourself. Since they won't make any league thats easier than those two.

Removing trading would make the game harder...... drops could then be modified to a point where it takes the same mount of time to get the same amount of gear as if you had traded for it.

This idea that increasing drops while removing trade makes the game easier is a logical fallacy. It all depends on how much they change the drops. Hopefully they would balance it.

"We have many plans for interesting game modifiers that leagues can apply, but one rule is clear – they must only make the game harder. Because characters transfer back to the parent league when a league ends, it is important that the character’s journey to its current status was equivalent or more difficult than gameplay in the parent league."

For self founders, the game would be made easier as they don't trade anyways.. So its not likely to happen as a quasi permanent league.

Its not sub par, you just see it as currency whereas I see it as crafting material. Its like you want to trade, but won't. Self found is all about patience, and not caring if there is a "better" way of doing something. On just my level 13 I've "blown" around 5 chaos orbs re-rolling mauls.

Didn't even look back.

And again, none of the proponents of SFL are imagining it as a temporary league that bleeds into sc/hc. For my part I imagine it as a 3rd league alongside HC/SC. If they had a temporary allocation SFL I wouldn't play it. I don't play any temporary allocation stuff..... that's for people who want to compete on a ladder which I don't.

It would never be a stand alone league, thats what I meant by that quote. It would have to be a temp league.

You also didn't answer the bolded.

I'm sorry but human nature dictates that most people can't restrict themselves in that way. That self-control is unique to you. Look at D3: anyone could have chosen to play Self Found there and neglected the trading aspect of the game but that didn't stop it from bleeding players who were upset that the best way to get gear was the ah myself included.

If everyone were like you then yes it's all good but we are not all like you.

There is nothing physically preventing them from adding it as a permanent league.... just because they didn't plan to add a new permanent league doesn't mean they shouldn't consider it. If enough people want it, it would improve the game for many of us but I guess keeping your customers happy isn't as important as sticking to the plan come hell or high water?

I didn't realize crafters wanting to craft using crafting materials was abnormal.

I concede on this, as basically it seems SFL advocates just don't want the temptation of trading.

I don't understand the reasons against this league. Everyone will be happy, people who want this league will play it. People with 400Q will stay in standart league.

Only 1 issue I can see here. If this league doesn't have reset, one day we will see people complaining again: "He has that X, it's so OP, no reason to play".

So maybe it will be good idea:
1) To remove top tier imbalanced uniques: volraxic rift, shavronnes, soul taker.
2) Add new uniques and something new to make this attractive not only for self-found.

If D3 had "stuck to the plan" you wouldn't be here. Generally following a roadmap is a good thing, especially for something like creating new leagues.

Also, theres servers / rack space, and programming expenses.
