BloodMagic from gear swap broken!

"
Why the hell didn't you just wait? Didn't it pass through your minds that high level people are just going to take their items with them now and cast them every time they enter a new map? What difference does that make? Just tedium?
It's a rather shitty nerf particularly to life builds and bringer or rain/kaom's users.

There were some more serious exploits than just the BM trick , and those required you to change the items while in town, these have been completely made impossible now.

s/exploit/clever use of game mechanics/

corrected.

You are getting a bonus from gear you are not wearing. There's a difference between 'clever use of game mechanics' and 'obviously unintended behaviour'.

You really think people are going to spend ~40 seconds rearranging gear and auras like that when everyone's trying to maximise their clear speed?

Currently this only occurs on changing area, but in future we hope to eliminate this completely by having it update if the aura is currently on you at the time of the change.

In short, yes, this is intended, and was in the patch notes.
If you want to gain the benefit of a piece of gear, you should be wearing that gear. If you take it off, you should no longer gain benefits from it.

Uggggh, I get why, but then what is the point of Simulacra and Covenant, design wise?

Malachai's is for giving access to Blood Magic to classes not in the area at earlier levels (it's a level 17 Unique after all) and Covenant gives you Blood Magic while letting you stay in the caster/ES area, although it really needs more ES for that, but at least you can get a 7L.

Oh, and HP flasks are about twice as effective as mana flasks, so yeah, that helps with the Blood Magic thing too.

Hey Mark, I'm just curious.

the idea was to give a shadow access to bloodmagic in a high life build it was never the intention of the creator to use it for swapping this exploits had to stop and iam glad they did i sold the armor the minute i found it at its prime for 1,5 hc ex and was waiting patiently

if your build sucks now cause you build around exploits

i dont care

This. I never made a build with exploits/bugs in mind, this patch didn't affect me at all, in fact it even made my life easier. Too bad I lost a socket for portal gem tho :p

Love this patch, performance update is glorious. Disappointed with reave.

I don't see what you're pointing at with this?
Exploiting QQwhinebots not reading the patch notes. Not bothering to read the patch notes even on the splash screen. Hilarious.

Buffs on gear should no longer apply when you remove the unique item(s) from the doll. Simple as that.

Fixed as intended.
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
This was a bug, and was being exploited, heavily.

I don't get why ppl are whining about it. You all knew it was coming.

its beta, they fix broken shit.

Youhou ! an other fix on my char... i have been nerf each time (life, auras, innerforce, res). this is becoming boring now.
Maps have 1 and only 1 area.

you just have to keep your Malachai/Covenant in your inventory and reload all your auras at the begining of each maps.

with this patch, i lost nothing, except some seconds before each maps; In fact, i'm more powerfull than before thanks to the inner force buff :)

Mark said the bug will be completely removed soon, well, at least i have time to reroll the only viable build type : CI

Personally I am not really complaining - i can get by since i was only using my 6L armor with my auras and had a free slot so I can add in blood magic - not a big deal.

HOWEVER, with that being said, I thought that it was kind of cool how you could use Malachai's as a sort of ritual/enchantment item that allowed you to take advantage of both pools of mana without using the gem. I never realized it was an exploit, but I still plan on running my 5 auras and 2 buffs, so I'm glad I made a build that can do this without exploiting.

Thanks for keeping it real GGG!
