If you loose blood magic, then your skills no longer reserve life rather than mana, so they will revert to mana when they notice this. Currently this only occurs on changing area, but in future we hope to eliminate this completely by having it update if the aura is currently on you at the time of the change.
In short, yes, this is intended, and was in the patch notes.
If you want to gain the benefit of a piece of gear, you should be wearing that gear. If you take it off, you should no longer gain benefits from it.
Put it in bold in the next patch notes!
No, really though, thanks for the good patch :)
Will learn to live without it!

Or some people might think this was a cool and new mechanic what comes to using auras in games like this. And some people might think that changes like this to game mechanics would need something else to compensate these changes in same patch, not 2 months later, but who am I saying anything?

Uggggh, I get why, but then what is the point of Simulacra and Covenant, design wise?
Hey Mark, I'm just curious.

Careful there, a 20 quality reduced mana won't affect auras.

its obvious why junk uniques exist, it is there to annoy you in end game, where you will be like "hell yeah unique" "oh wait its crap"
it's there to emulate how dissapointed you were when you get something crappy that is rare, it's just like getting dragonscale zakarum shield in diablo 2 type thing.

It's not only gear switches, it's gem switches too. Like, I'd commonly move my reduced mana gem around to cast auras, and put things like enduring cry or decoy totem in those red sockets.
Not anymore. Change areas, they go back to full reserve (or shut off all together).
THIS part I particularly hate. It's a rather shitty nerf particularly to life builds and bringer or rain/kaom's users.

Been reading about this all day. For me I'm lucky, I just have to level another RM and open up a red socket. Never did anything except switching a RM to another socket due to it being my only one.
