Official Blender Post! Lets theory craft for 1.2! 123k Cleave DPS!

@Aerinqq

It all depends on your dps.

life leech and mana leech is % of your dps.

so for example:

if you have 5k dps cleave, 2% life leech will give you (.02* 5,000 = 100), you would have 100 life/sec from leeching.
The mechanics of mana leech is the same.

check out my little experiment in page 22 of this thread

you can see there I have around 7% life leech. (.07* 5,000 = 350)
and I only have 2k life, so 350 life/sec from leeching is more than enough for me. I still have life regen on top of leeching.

for mana 2% is more than enough in my opinion. 5k cleave 2% mana leech gives you 100 mana/sec from leeching. cleave only cost about 15-30 mana(don't really remember), all i know its really cheap mana cost.

I only gear my experiment duelist with rare I found, and the build is still very very effective.

I saw you said you running BoR, so im assuming you have 5k dps at the very least. that's why i used 5k cleave as example. Your dps probably more for sure.

hope this help

Thx for this guide. It encouraged me to try dual welding, I always thought that survivability will be awful. Surprisingly it's quite good, even better than my 4k hp ranger. I'm doing my 67 map pool atm, I don't die, tried some hard mods (reflect+vuln) and it's really easy. But why I'm really writing here is to give people a nice tip.

Link your Whirling Blades and/or Leap slam to "Endurance charge on melee stun". It really works nice, if you somehow can use 4L for that add stun support too.

thanks guys for the buiild and comments on earlier pages. I have a quesstion on armor and damage reduction. How much armor do i need in order to get 75% reduction, and does this percentage include the endurance charges? I currently have 4 maximum edurance charges and i wonder if i need more (5 or 6).

From a defensive perspective, i have specc'ed for more hp, upwards templar area nodes and probably ranger nodes for more maxlife%. What i would like to compare is, the additional 24% 1-hand damage nodes right below the Duelist area. How much does eat of those nodes give in approximate to dps?

Thanks everyone for help. Currently LV61 and going through Merciless Act3 City of Sarn.

I have some experiment with duelist using the guide. on page 22 I posted my crappy gear (all just rares that i found) with some screenshot. My duelist can kill piety merciless no problem. Farm Dock and Lunaris for exp very well. (i only have 2k life+max resist+62 %reduction)

I only run 3 endurance charges, gives me about 62% reduction (which is more than enough in my opinion)

The original poster x2P has 90% reduction is included endurance charges

to answer your question regarding 24% 1H dmg better or more life from templar and ranger, that depends on your gear. If you have enough survivability from gear and you dont need extra HP because you rarely die then you want dps. if you keep dying in merciless then perhaps, it is better to get more life.
If you are new player, and are not familiar with every monster mechanics (some monster combo can kill you, this is not a game where you can face-roll) you might want to get more defenses.

you have to do the math yourself because 24% is different for everyone.

From example:
The extra dps is different between 24% from 5k dps and 24% with 10k dps.

my advise use couple regret orbs to tested it out yourself.

Hope this help

thanks panda for the opinion.

im currently at 60% reduction without endurance charges, my gear is crappy and i do not yet have the 3 armor passives near duelist tree. that's why im asking if the reduction is achievable for merciless and after. i guess 60-70 is decent, which is what i am looking at for now. I am tearing through monsters in Docks and Lunaris 2. Have not tested piety though, will have to wait 2 more levels until im 68 before i go and kill her solo.

i have also travelled into the templar area for some life nodes, as well as moving towards the ranger for Heart of Oak. These will improve my survivability pre-mapping. I believe it will give me a guide as to how much hp i would need. Currently i do not own a BoR, neither do i have any 300dps weapons. Hence, my decision to go a little more tanky.

Thanks for this guide - any additional tips /advice for a newbie to PoE (not regarding passives & nodes)? I am in my first week of PoE
Chris plz

Gimme good RNG
@Immortxlz

The only advise I have is never give up.

You will hit a brick wall since you are a new player.
Keep your moral up, farm ledges act 1, fellshrine act 2, city of sarn and docks act 3. These zones are not mandatory, it's the easiest to full clear over and over in my opinion while you pushing thru content.

Stay a little bit longer until you have enough life and resists. Resists in my opinion is very crucial, having 50% all resist compared to max/capped 75% resist (without any passives or added max resist)the survivability is not the same. (life+resist+armor) these are your best friends. DPS will come along eventually from passives, jewelers(ring+amulet+belt) ,weapon.

When you gearing. Survivability should be your top priority, it doesn't matter if you can do 45k cleave like the original poster (x2P) but you always dying.
His build is solid. He maximize just enough survivability (Not the tankiest), and maximize the dps (amazing dps)

This build is insanely fun to play, great mobility, great dps, very simple to play.

Started after a lucky soultaker drop, didnt go back to other characters since.
