Official Blender Post! Lets theory craft for 1.2! 123k Cleave DPS!
Is anyone running a 1h + shield build still and effective in 75+ maps? I'd love to see a build and gear setup. I read the debates 20 or so pages back but didn't really see it fleshed out
i know it might have been mentioned in previous posts/ comments but didn't want to flip through 160 pages when i have you experts here :P
anyways, the original build says for triggering: cwdt+decoy+enduring+ enfeeble
However i was wondering which is better?
1. cwdt + enduring + immortal call + enfeeble
2. cwdt + enduring + immortal call + molten shell
3. original OP with decoy totem
Is there a definite answer for this or does it just depend on preferences? Im mainly looking for surivability ofc (i use level 3-4 cwdt)
ps: i know immortal call doesnt help with elemental dmg, so would decoy actually be best option? i die more often with decoy from kole then with IC or MS.... so maybe switch them around depending on maps?
Playing with 2 cwdt at the moment, so far so good.
1: lvl 9 cwdt, lvl 9 immortal call, lvl 12 molten shell, increased duration.
2: level 1 cwdt: lvl 5 enfeeble or lvl 3 vulnerability, lvl 5 enduring cry (q20 is important on this one)
yeah seems good but it doesnt really answer of question of which 4link set up is better...
I'd use cwdt + enduring + immortal call + enfeeble with a low level cwdt.
i wonder why ppl use immortal call in this build at all...(or in any armor heavy builds at all)
with such a build (at least a similar one), you have no problems with physical dmg at all 70-90% mitigation, the danger is magical damage. so why waste a gem slot on physical immunity???

Mind posting your gear and build? And when you say effective, I assume you're also killing the bosses? Maegera, Dominus, etc... ?

Do you find you have enough dps to reliably clear? Any reason you didn't go for Bulwark or some of the other shield block nodes? Why Lioneye over Aegis?

tbh, i didnt even looked at the aegis builds, but im pretty sure they are a bit different build, since you need at least some base ES so you have something to recover. what i like about remorse is the -dmg (its more significant than it looks) and the huge armor you get when you run it with alot armor nodes and determination
about the dps, its imo more than enough. i do substantial dmg even in 6 man parties, although its not as much as "dedicated" dpsler like trapper/caster/ranged bow user etc. BUT besides my good dps, i absorb ALOT of damage, making life for everyone else safer. i block doorways to keep mobs at range, i run into charges on purpose etc pp, so you can say its a good mix of dps and utility

Aegis itself provides like 200 ES. I think the spell block and higher block chance are really the big benefits though.
I have a templar with an available respec I was considering. For the same points, I'm looking at something like this
If math serves, this looks like it gives you +8 additional all resists, 44% additional armor, 33% more total damage with one handed axe (30% melee physical, 12% physical, 92% axe, 66% one handed weapon = 200%) compared to (35% melee physical, 12% physical, 92% axe, 28% one handed= 167%) with a loss of +12 maximum life, 4% maximum life, and 2.9% life regen.
There are probably a few ways to tweak the tree as well depending on your needs.
Seems like a good tradeoff to me.
I'm a solo player, so the dps of shield really interests me. Do you switch any gems out for AOE clearing?

yeaaaa well, the numbers sound good, BUT you forget one thing. the -30% crit dmg taken are pretty much invaluable. i can tell you that i had a bad day when i played like shit and almost died 4 times. so far i survived 2 vaal smash, 1 dominus punch and several other close shit. im pretty much 100% sure that the -30% saved my life on more than 1 occasion, so i wont drop them, especially not for a bit more dmg and armor (you have enough armor anyway, 20k+). same btw goes for the regen, dropping 2.9% life regen would mean i lose around 250 hp/s which are very good aswell, especially vs. corrupted blood mobs.
if you play domination/softcore i would say sure, give it a try. but not on hc imo
about the gems: i just swap gems out when im playing with a freezer, so i dont aoe splash the minions he`s using for the freeze
