Crafting? Don't be silly, just buy the item.

For me, the only bow upgrades left are either the ones that come up at most once in a few weeks, selling for 50+ exalts each, or ones that are simply not for sale. I did have the pleasure of conversing with the owner of one which fell into the latter category - he spent 30 ex crafting it, way back before eternals.

Can you perhaps understand why, then, I choose to craft?

Never mind 6L, I spent maybe 2 dozen fusings just trying to 4L a pair of boots & eventually just gave up & bought a better pair for less than I'd spent trying to craft/fix those. & that's when it hit me: this crafting system isn't viable unless you have 100's of orbs to potentially toss into the toilet.

I had a bow whose stats would have been an upgrade that I was trying to get more sockets on. A Jeweler's took it from a 3L, 4S to ONE socket. Yeah, it could have gone either way, but it didn't, & for me anyway, it never seems to. I never did get it to socket/link properly & ended up getting a better bow as a gift from a friend.

Guess the system is ok as-is if you have a billion orbs farmed up, you're inherently lucky, or you're a gambler/masochist.

Hundreds? Try thousands of orbs to piss away. THAT'S 'crafting' in this game. Chances of getting something good or even great within a few hundred currency items is slim to none. You must win the lottery to get good/great items. I just pissed away my last 60 chromes and still didn't get the colors I wanted, granted 3 of the 4 colors I wanted were off color, I never even got more than 2 off colors at the same time, and that only happened twice out of those 60. Out of chromes so I must make do with sub par colors now.

Did you toss more than one jewler into that bow? I bet it went from 4s to 1 to 2 to 1 to 1 to 3 to 1 to 4 back to 1...

As fun as this game is, the rng for everything seems akin to (/flame shield on) D3's rng for getting decent items...

good/great? Seriously? How about 6L = best in game. Its supposed to be the ultimate thing to get. Saying it's good, vastly underestimates the power a 6L provides.

The issue that needs to be addressed is why the playerbase tells those that complain or those that are new to avoid the system the dev's put in place and simply buy the item they want. If the system is so bad that the best suggestion is to avoid it, it needs fixing.

I agree with this 100%. And since i'm one of those players that actually wants to play this with self found gear I really have no options left. Playing the game = enjoying the game for me personally. Enjoyment out of crafting is taken away and trading has never really been something for me. The richest guy get's anything he wants. Capitalism at it's finest.

When i made my sporker i wanted a new chest for her so i started to gamble since i had many fusings in my stash

It took to me:
~200 scraps
~100 fusings
~40 chaos

Gamble is one of the most addictive patterns

if you won progressively you would get bored in a while

your response is disrespectful, at least provide something that back the RNG system.

And I do agree to the OP, why spending too much currency on a white item just to get what you want while you can just buy it with less that crafting it.

I have played the game enough just to realize that crafting is a game of chance. If you want something farm it or buy it.

edit: After reading this thread, GGG needs to make some crafting recipes for certain gears and it will be much like the vendor recipes for orbs.
HEY!!! GOT MILK!!!

Im left with a 2L vaal regilia.

Crafting here is like a casino. Except that every sector of PoE roulette says "Fuck You".
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.
ZOMG this thread is long, and its only been a few hours.

I had a 6L item once, know where i got it? The vendor delivered it to me, and sold for 3 chaos orbs.

Is that a low price for it, why it was white not rolled in any way WAIT, how about everyone re-read that last part ... no affix/prefix , end game level but i thought its only worth 3 chaos.

How many have actually gone through the pain of just rolling stats?

Any idea how many Alts, Augs, Divines, Exalts, it actually takes to make something even half-worth-the-poop?

Crafting in this game is a joke, 700-800 jeweler orbs + Fusings shards or not very well consummed already high numbered needed Materials leaving a person with Wha... Nothing !

Agree with this crap system all you want, this game should have never been referred and not saying any other ARPG is any better, was against them from the beginning.
wasnt expecting to get anything but 4sockets and 4l and give it to a friend for leveling up

ended up getting this in 3jewls and 5chroms or so i was amazed and decided to keep the item :P

Did I even mention 6L in that post? Nope, 6L is a non issue for so many people, unless you're one of those people that literally win the lotto and get it in a few hundred fusing. You're pissing your way into poverty trying to get a 6L item. After 300 fusing(with quality) just trying for a FIVE link item, I've simply given up trying to ever get something of the sort.

As people say 'god' tier items in this game simply aren't sold, so why even factor those? Do you have any idea how much currency people throw into a SINGLE god tier item? 50+ exalts worth of currency at the bare min. Do you have any idea how much currency that is? That is simply unattainable for the vast majority of people(in any reasonable amount of time), again you don't even need to think about it.

Even still, you elitists say a 6L is a luxury item, if it is, why do you get so pissed when someone calls it good/great and they aren't even thinking of it? A white 6L is great, a rare 6L with shitty rolls is best in slot? NOPE. If it doesn't give you what you want/need it never is and never will be best in slot.

Crafting in this game is like a middle class American going to vegas with his life savings and walking straight to the 100$ slot machines. Could he win it big? Sure. But what do you think will REALLY happen? He looses all his money within 10 mins. He doesn't have millions of dollars to throw away like the rich people those slots are DESIGNED for.

Simply put, crafting in this game is designed only for the super rich. If you want a god tier item, you must be rich enough to play those slots for hours on end. If you're not, just play the quarter machines, AKA using only fusings to get a 4link on the helm, glove, boots and maybe a couple chaos every now and then on a 5link weapon/armor you bought.
