Crafting? Don't be silly, just buy the item.

Thats the way economy works.

Once people stop crafting themselves the prices for pieces will go up and crafting will be worth it.

Nah. Better take a cheap cookie cutter build and gear with uniques. Fuck rares and their goddamned thousand of layers of badly biased RNG.

Make it pure random for the first 200 fusing and if more than 200 fusing spent, increase the odds, if another 100 fusing (total of 300 fusing) and still not at least 5L, increase the odds again and increase it so on...

This would just lower the average amount of currency you need to craft, which means it would also lower the price of the already crafted items on the market. You would still have to make the decision 'gamble or buy?'. OP just didn't think about it before he started crafting, RNG fucked him and now he's pissed.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

It seems a solid solution to this, without compromising the RNG of the matter, would be to make the jeweller's/fusings only increase, not decrease the number of sockets/links. The only problem I can see with that is that you won't have a visual cue that you've even used an orb if you roll lower than what you've already got.

I'm a fan of 6ls being hard to make, but from the amount of complaining I've seen on this issue, I think something should be done. I don't think it should be easier, but changing the system so that if a 4s is rolled on an item that's already 5s, no change occurs seems like it would placate a lot of the userbase that seems to so frequently get upset about burning x jew/fus and not getting their item.

I'm sure there are downsides to this, but I'm not really coming up with any. 5ls will be a lot more common?
I have played this game over 800 hours and never 5linked, however I've crafted some really nice helms, boots and ammys before and these were the best moments in the game. If I ever 5link/6link something, I will be jumping for the moon, but yeah I buy 5links because of this =p

yeah linked it myself and not for sale atm, gonna exalt es roll when I get more eternals try to get out like 900-1000 es from it
The only thing I'll add to this, other than to say I like the way it works currently, is that the actual probabilities involved need to be made public. With incomplete information, people are frustrated by lack of results. With complete information, it's they're own fault if they take a risk. Risk needs to be known for it to be fair.
