Why I'm quitting PoE and no longer recommending it to friends
" Wow, You've opened my eyes! I cant believe I ever tried to make this connection... Your right its TOTALLY different because pants are armor, and a 6L is a luxury item that is like a victory lap and NOT something anyone should ever feel like they need. Not even for PVP purposes. Eventhough you can finish ALL content without the 6L, it doesnt matter that a 6L character will have a very large advantage over others that dont have a 6L, but pants on the other hand, since its armor, it would be TOTALLY different.. Why? Well because a 6L is a victory lap that you shouldnt ever expect to get, just stop trying and itll eventually happen... If your lucky... if you find a point to keep playing... Cause you know, once youve beaten all the content... There is so much to do, you could... ummm... farm orbs! why? ummmm... to upgrade gear! oh wait... thats pure random and not something we should be trying to do, we should just let it happen randomly... Just be content with your 5L thats pretty decent because you DONT deserve a 6L so stop whining that a guy 10 levels below you can beat you in Pvp.... And stop complaining that you beat all the "End Game Maps" because there is no end game right now because its beta! They called them "End Game Maps" to trick you into THINKING its the end game, but its really not... And dont think for a second end game is bettering your character by random means of RNG because THATS NOT IT EITHER!!!!! |

"Sacrificing is a word that you chose to focus on, and it does have a lot to do with this topic, because of the fact that people are brining up the fact that they are progressing 'backwards'. However if they werent actually wearing the item in the first place then they arent 'actually' progressing backwards at all. The changing of items was an opportunity cost (sacrifice may have been bad wording), and its true that this cost exists. Even if you think its not relevant (which it is, because people have been arguing against it as a downside to RNG) to this topic, that doesnt make it wrong |

" Personally I dont mind as much that there is this opportunity cost built into the game. I think that type of dynamic is great! The only issue I really have is there is no systematic (or even hint of systematic) way of achieving what is deemed the "ultimate" armor. It seems in many popular games, take WoW for example) you want tier "x" gear? you know exactly what boss it drops from and where to get it. So you try and "farm" that boss as best you can. In Runescape, you can craft your gear or trade for it as well, but you know exactly how to get it... In Diablo there were still loot tables so you knew what bosses to farm... With PoE its a total crap shoot to try and get the 6L gear, Another member hinted that maybe if in higher lvl maps, 6L dropped more frequent, it would give players atleast the glimmer of hope that they could do something, have some power, or say, in trying to get a 6L... Without any source of "control" be it real or not, the player gets frustrated... |

Something really has to be done with fusings. Endgame really is about nothing but farming for fusing orbs so you can use the great gear you've found. Even 4 links take way too many fusings to get for how rare they are. Buying them is incredibly tedious because you have to buy everything one at a time and way too expensive.
It just wears you out and kills your drive to play the game when you can't even wear your upgrades because you can't socket them to use your skills. Last edited by muccmaster#5550 on Sep 10, 2012, 7:22:42 PM

" Thank you. Eventually you hit a wall where you just dont see the point in logging in. When D3 came out, I hit that wall after about three days of being lvl 60 in inferno... You just realize there is no point to farm because there is nothing to do. Same with PoE, you feel helpless because "progression" is then only be upgrading gear which is really only done through sockets... Which is RnG and is NOT based on time or skill. Eventually you will clear the content but as of right now, thats the next "step" for your character. Maybe eventually GGG will come out with super high end content for 90+, but right now players clear content and 6L is the next best thing to get, not to mention the "Ultimate" "stat" for an item. I think the only way to really balance this out would be to modify the actual stats on items so they could be the same things as the support gems themselves, which isnt a horrible idea. One thing that NEEDS to be thought about is longevity of appeal to the masses. ESPECIALLY in F2P games, GGG will make money off of microtransactions. This will only happen if you make a game that takes longer than 48-60 hours to clear content... Honestly they should make each level MUCH harder to progress. Make the game like 2x as long (either through XP reduction, or making each lvl take 2x more xp to lvl because content can be cleared VERY fast at the moment. Also, Content past lvl 60 would be desired. Im not quite sure how they are bringing act 3 into it but actual content getting characters to say lvl 75 and then maps carrying past until 90+ would be ideal.. This way a player wont feel as though the only next step is 6L since I could almost guarantee that getting to 90+ you will probably see 1 along the way... Either that or GGG makes maps at 90+ drop 6L more commonly thus the weight comes back onto the items stats at that point and less about the links... Either way, as it stands, it needs to get fixed... End Game = RNG = End of Game I know GGG wants to promote events and leagues but a long game makes players continue to play and want to pay too. |

" This is incorrect. Money is destroyed as the loan that created it is repaid. It is NOT the goal of the central banks to keep inflation low, it is a mandate by law (in most countries) to do so: caused by the simple fact that without it central banks do not keep inflation low. youtube "money as debt". " the stock exchange has the greatest impact on inflation. because peoples reactions to the stock exchange drives inflationary habits. IE: hoarding money, low consumer purchase rates...etc...as well as the opposite behaviors which can signal a heated economy. the perception of good and bad times the stock exchange creates can easily outpace any regulatory moves the government who's supposed to keep the economy steady can make however drastic they may be. |

" so you're saying you'd rather get rid of the option (fusings) to upgrade that "great gear" you found. Therefore making that "great gear" vendor trash because now you're stuck farming for a dropped 6L WITH great stats? Fusings are a bonus route to gear. If you're too focused on that bonus.. toss the gear and just farm linked gear that drops if it makes you happier. Or do you mean you want the "endgame" to be easier in which case most complainers would stop playing anyways? for me i think fusings should work with non-reducing L-tiers. Meaning.. you have a possibility to roll any number of links 0-6 BUT if you roll 0-2 OR 3-4 OR 5-6 you're guaranteed to STAY within that tier. So if you have a 5L.. you still make the same rolls but if it hits 0-4L you DONT LOSE GEM SLOTS; it will stay as 5L. If you have a 2L... and you roll 0-2L you stay at 2L but roll anything else and it gains gem slots. i believe that this system would promote the feeling of "upgrading" as we can successively use our gear as it's upgraded through fusings. Currently its like "ok use it as 5L"...farm fusings...roll fusings..."damn 2L - rage - QQ - remove armor".. harder time farming more fusings raging the whole time... gamble more.. rinse n repeat. ok i posted something! Can i login to the game now?? Last edited by Shaolungbao#2365 on Sep 11, 2012, 11:21:49 AM

" "so you're saying you'd rather get rid of the option (fusings) to upgrade that "great gear" you found. " - Who EVER said this? "Or do you mean you want the "endgame" to be easier in which case most complainers would stop playing anyways? " - Who EVER said this either? "BUT if you roll 0-2 OR 3-4 OR 5-6 you're guaranteed to STAY within that tier. " - would not work since there is no risk and only potential reward. This would be a broken system...
