Why no Iron Grip like pre-1.0 patch tree?

It's always been a "minor" dps boost and now that we don't ever use BM keystone once we get a 6L item (ussing blood magic gem instead) there is not point to go that way of the tree. The route that I choose in the OP 108 point build gives more life with less points and helps lead up to the Lioneyes Glare build, that doesn't require RT and free up two points, compared to just 1 with the old route.

Edzilla thanks a lot for all your great replies, I think I start to understand something to this game/character/class :)

Here is the new build I have in mind.

why dont you take the 3 nodes in the middle of the ranger(heart of oak and 2 around it) and spend 2 more points getting unwavering stance? you have iron reflexes so you cant evade anyway, you would be losing 4% life and 1% life regen for never being stunned instead of 30% chance to avoid

I take the Heart of Oak for the regen and the life - not the stun reduction - that's just an added bonus - the ballistic mastery is also a good boost in DPS.

Not a bad looking tree. But if you are really serious about going mana based - I would do something like this:

108 points

Picking up 25% reducd mana cost of skills + 60% mana regen in place of your marauder tankiness passives. Mana-based LA is nearly impossible to pull off - if you want to go this route, along with the passives I believe mana-leech would be require too. It's mainly because you are stacking attack speed, with a high attack speed bow - so you are unable to leech mana fast enough to keep up with your attacks. Shadows (or crit builds) pull it off better, since you can pick-up a 2% mana leech node, up near the shadow tree. But, those builds are CI and CI isn't really viable with duelist anymore.

How do you survive with this? im in nemesis lvl 45 and i don't see any diamond +12% resistance things being taken in the skill trees in the OP? Resistances are low.

I'm currently leveling a duelist - taking zero resists passives my resists in cruel are 75, 65, 75.

But, my build does pick up a 12% node, under the duelist tree, beneath troll's blood. Only time you need to worry about max resists is in merc farming and maps - which is when you should get that node anywho. Get it sooner if you need, just take less life nodes in templar and in the center.

are you also in nemesis or on standard

Actually the build I've linked was to be used with BM Gem on late game.
Are you saying Mana reduction does have an impact anymore when you're using BM?
In this case what would you recommend?

Also, would you have a build using Heart of Oak mixed with what I'm looking at?
