Just posted some questions on a build very similar to this. Main concern is the mana issues im having while leveling without BM.

Best advice I can give:

Get Mana Flows passive, in between Master of the Arena and Acceleration.

Get a Paua Amulet. I got lucky with mine and it rolled double regen.

Get the reduced mana cost passives(the 5% ones) between Berserking and the giant life circle below Sion.

Maintain two mana pots - make sure they are the best you can get.

Until then, just rush to BM keystone. GL

BM simply frightens me. I'm playing hardcore only so I don't feel secure leveling with such a build eating my life constantly..
Would you recommend BM only for the high-end game as it requires top notch items?

Also thanks to the one highlighting the Mana regen issue and your answer, I'll now probably add points to Reduced Mana costs and Mana Flows :)

The BM keystone itself is actually more safe then BM gem, since the BM gem, at max level, doubles the cost of your skills whereas BM keystone makes the cost exactly the same but takes life. With LGoH, chain, and LMP, you gain back much more life then you used when casting LA.

I'm a beginner and don't know about chain and LMP yet. Which level do they appear?
So you'd recommend BM build for leveling as well?

LMP=Lesser Multiple Projectiles. Chain is .. chain :) Check them out at http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Path_of_Exile_Wiki if you need to learn what they do.

You will get LMP from a quest reward, as a duelist. Chain on the other hand is only looted, so you will need to buy it from a player or get lucky enough to loot it. They essentially make your lightning arrow, normally 1 projectle, turn into 9 projectiles. Thus, giving your life gain on hit, 9 targets to give you life from.

I would recommend getting the circle life cluster below sion and above berserking, before heading to get blood magic so that you have a nice life pool to be able to BM with.

Try something like this, before hitting blood magic keystone: 51 points

If it makes it easier to level, do so with Split Arrow or Rain of Arrows, or even cleave / spectral throw. LA is kind of hard to pull off without a 4 or 5 link.

Very nice thread. Thanks for the info. Have been playing ground slam stun duelist from the start. Deleted all my toons and got back into it from closed beta (a lot of changes lol) and was wondering whatever happened to the LA builds. IMHO they are the funnest!

I still need to update the items and add more builds. Perhaps on my next day off. :)

Actually my fear about BM is that I play Hardcore, so eating my life is quite problematic as long as I don't have the sufficient gems to optimize my LoH and Leech.

Regarding the life circle I've stopped at Path of the Warrior as I don't know yet if i'll be takings some keystones that I'd lke to ask you about:

- Iron Grip:
The damage increase seems quite tasty especially while taking so much strenght nodes. Am i wrong?

- Unwavering Stance:
Not being stuned seems a really great survivale tool while playing Hardcore, but do you feel this keystone is mandatory?

- Resolute techniques:
I can't imagine myself not using crits... Also at high levels your accuracy might be quite strong so I'm really wondering if this power worth not having crits anymore?

I also have several questions about minor keystones:
- Mortal Conviction:
What's its effect? I'm French so maybe I'm missing something here in the mini keystone explanation :)

- Troll/Golem's blood:
Is it worth taking both?

- Vigor:
Is it worth the point?

Finally, three last questions:
- If I'm going BM, are the Reduced Mana stones still works and will affect the Life spent?
- Is it better to focus on Reduced Mana or Increased Maximum Mana?
- Which Mana nodes would you recommend and around which level?

Thanks in advance for your time and expertise share :)
Why no Iron Grip like pre-1.0 patch tree?

The idea is to pick up blood magic when you have enough life to sustain it, ontop of LMP+Chain+Life gain on hit. This should be in your late 40's, early 50's. I only play hardcore leagues :)

Iron Grip was picked up previously because it was convenient, but as it stands now, it is just out of the way. So, i've decided to leave it out of the level 90 bm gem build.

Unwavering Stance is in the same boat as Iron Grip - besides, with having a large amount of life and being a ranged class, you should not need to worry about stuns.

Resolute Technique is a requirement. And no, you will not be doing crits - at least not with this build. Unless you get a hold of a Voltaxic Rift bow (Which are rather expensive...) then you will not be doing any crits at all. Mainly, because they will kill you, versus reflect mobs (once you get a lot of lightning damage) when combined with lightning thorns or double reflect map mods. Secondly, if you wanted to go with a crit build, you will need to get a lot of crit passives in order to even make a crit build a viable option. Otherwise, your crit chance will be very low and not worth the effort. I will be adding a Voltaxic Rift build later in the week, on one of my next days off - just too busy atm trying to level my Nemesis character :)

Mortal Conviction is a worthless point. It "Helps" you be able to use auras with blood magic keystone, but it's a waste of time - unless you're scrubcore. With level 16 reduced mana, that passive and even more reduced reserved mana passives, each one of your auras will take 27% of your life - which is completely unacceptable for hardcore. Don't get it. BM keystone is only used for leveling, once you get a 6L bow/chest, switch to BM gem and unspec out of BM and follow the tree I gave in the 108 point level 90 build.

Troll's Blood is great, coupled with the resist node below it - it makes it a great choice to hit after you get Iron Reflexes.

Vigor only get later, or once you set up enduring cry+cast on damage taken - but it's completely optional.

As for the mana / reserve questions, I answered the reserve ones above with BM keystone, but with the gem - just use Alpha's howl and run 2 auras on mana.

As for mana regen nodes for leveling - grab the mana flows in the middle of the duelist tree - get a well rolled Paua amulet (double mana regen if possible) and always keep 2 good mana potions up to date with your level.
