[GUIDE] 1339 Fireball Shotgun/CI Sorc v1.0.0

Taking the 2 INT nodes was one less point and yeah I wanted the es and mana. I'm actually considering a respec. option if I reach lvl88 where I don't take those 3 nodes at all and instead head for the mana group southeast of witch start. I'll investigate more later regarding this.

As for the batteries, what you said is pretty much correct but don't forget that the -120% total they provide will be counteracted by all other +spell and +elements and +fire etc. mods that you have, so its not like you do no damage. I go from about 1.7k chargeless to 9.1k fully charged.

@kicksome good luck homie. I would suggest trying to scrounge up enough currency for those 3 unique jewelery pieces I linked in the guide. they will make your life much easier.
Get mana nodes then what? Templar side or shadow side first?

Regarding the points this requires less points than going on the other side of the witch for mana and mana regen. While you're at it, you can also choose Soul Siphon, doesn't seem like it's a bad option.
Do you feel that you need more mana? Do you miss VP for not taking it? :D

Regarding the batteries, since I won't afford those any time soon, Can you post the DPS with normal gear (wand+shield, 2 wands) while posting the gear also. I am expecting that you have about 3-4K DPS?!
I would like to see what is the potential DPS of Fireball, since now I am struggling at 58 with 6-700 DPS on fire resistant mobs, doing almost 0 damage (even with flammability).

Thx

They're overall pretty equal in terms of what they have to offer. The only reason why you might want to go for templar side earlier is if you are lacking elemental resists. Otherwise, this build is pretty well divided between the top three areas, so it's more or less up to you which one you'd prefer to investigate first.

@nebunelux:

The tree you posted does indeed look like it'd be better for what I was thinking about. I actually have good enough gear where I dropped the 3 es nodes inside the sorc area and am sitting at 6.4k at the moment. Like I said, anything over 6k is really overdoing it. I don't think I'll change much more from what I posted the only thing I wish I had more of is mana, even with 2.1k mana - you never seem to have enough.

I unfortunately don't have any "normal" gear laying around to test those kinds of things out, but I will tell you that my original fireball/CI sorc from when I first started playing (who didn't use power charges - this was before PC on crit gem existed) and of course no batteries I believe she maxed out at about 4.5k fireball dps with fire pen + lmp in a 5L.
Just wanted to thank you for posting this awesome build!

Was struggling alot with my previous FB builds, now i've switched to this one and it works perfectly. Using it on my very first witch in anarchy with an Infernal Mantle, Divinarius and some mediocre Spellcrit shield, works fine but can't wait to get my hands on two Void Batteries.

Just a quick question: If i wanna do MF runs, which equips and gems would you think can i safely switch? Currently taking out PC on crit and Fire Pen, and switching Rings, Boots and Circlet, but my resis go down alot this way due to not having res on my chest.

Edit: Also thought about getting a 5l Searing Touch and set up an alternative MF-Fireball on it. Do you think it would work well with this build, or better just switching gems on my "main" Fireball?

Enki I cannot under any circumstances recommend searing touch.

Well, this isn't so much a MF build, but assuming you are not equipped w/ batteries then yeah it works to swap PC on crit. + Fire pen out for quantity and rarity gems. To be honest, though there are other builds out there that can MF more effectively especially those that are low-life oriented. This build is more focused on Facetank and ownage.
Thanks for the quick reply! Already guessed so, since switching my gear brings too many disadvantages to the build. Guess i just need to depend on my luck then, as i'm more of a solo player and don't like all those MF Dual Spork Totem whatever builds, haha.

Btw. for everyone using this build and still has crappy gear and low dps, i find Temp Chains (+ Doedre's Damning if you don't wanna drop Flammability) + Hex Master node is a good addition for safe leveling. Not sure when is the best time to drop it, but i did now at 5k ES, 50-75 resis and 1.6k dps (no charges) and get through maps quite safe.

Hey, I was wondering about physical damage.
I am getting destroyed by physical hits. Died a few times to the archers in Merciless Fellshrine in solo mode. I only have 2.5K ES but still I must have some kind of mitigation except granites.
I see you have 300 armor on belt, but that gives about 600 armor, which is negligible in high level content.
So in order to facetank you need mitigation or to overheal the damage which is not the case since this build doesn't contain Vaal Pact.

62 now, still have subpar DPS, waiting to get to 68 so I can equip my gear. So the leech is pretty minimal.

Yeah, your main issue is 2.5kes - which is far too low. Keep in mind that even with DPS as high as mine, you can only leech back 20% of your max es per second (more w/ quality on LL). The difference between [2.5k x .2] and [6k x .2] is massive. This is your primary mitigation. I even wrote in the guide that your offense is the best defense.

Let's assume 8% from the gem and 20% leech rate. With 6k shield you can leech back [DPS x .08] shields every second (Maximum [Max ES x .2]). Take my sorc for example with 9.1k dps that is roughly 750 shields gained back every second. Now, the most shields I can leech with my 6.4k energy shield is ~1300 - so it would actually be optimal for me to sacrifice more shields in exchange for damage (assuming nothing is capable of hitting me for over 5000 or so points of damage). On a side note, with 2.5k ES, the most shields you can regain every second is about 500. Even if you were doing 12k dps on fireball, you cannot sustain with such a pitiful amount of energy shield.

Also, It sounds like you are neglecting the benefits of Arctic Armor - your secondary mitigation and a skill that can reduce over 200 physical damage FROM EACH HIT YOU TAKE. If you do not go out of your way to accommodate AA, you will not be able to facetank some things. That's just how it is.
This is the only Witch build I have found that even looks remotely fun. Great build, hopefully I'll be able to afford some of this gear one day XD
