[GUIDE] 1339 Fireball Shotgun/CI Sorc v1.0.0
" My first POE character was a poor man's version of this build and with only 7-8exalt worth of gear, she was able to hold her own solo in 70+ maps. All you need to rock a decent FB sorc is two decent rare wands, eye of chayula and a 5l armor with over 600 or so es. Stick FB - LMP - Fire pen - Life leech and either FCR or Faster Proj. as your 5th and don't even worry about charges and batteries. Compared to my new build, sure the damage wasn't as great. I think I hit like 3.5 or 4k with that character and I didn't even have dream fragments for the longest time lol... But I liked it enough to remake it in a drastically improved fashion once I had collected some better gear, so its definitely still an enjoyable build even if you don't have 60+ exalts worth of equipment to use. |

I am building a Fire Witch atm(lvl 33).
I have some issues with the Fireball mechanics. I can't AoE anything. In a typical situation a group of archers stand back and the melee mobs rush to me 1 by 1. So what happens is I am hitting the mobs 1 by 1 most of the time and rarely I can hit more then 2 mobs. It feels like using Basic Attack. 90% of the time I am hitting 1 mob with 1 cast of FB+LMP. I can hit more then 1 mob if all mobs are on top of me, in melee range. So what's the AoE capability of FB? That's why I wanted to see a video. Any suggestions? If you hit 1 mob per cast, the killing speed is very low, regardless of the damage. |

Which supports are you using? I've never had an issue with my setup. Faster projectiles with LMP let's you splash mobs from screens away. Only use the shotgun method on stronger mobs - its like your single target where as long-range spam @ 2.5 cast/sec is for easily taking out the fodder. Don't be afraid to use FCR gem at lower levels if your gear doesn't have sufficient cast speed. Also, avoid Conc. Effect as it makes your splash AOE pitiful.
I wont be playing POE the next couple days, but I will certainly try to get a video and update my guide perhaps sometime mid next week. Last edited by MetalheadNorm#6595 on Aug 10, 2013, 12:46:49 PM

and a glorious bump!
up up for video |

Sorry for the delay, but I finally managed to record some game play footage with my sorc. It's nothing fancy, and I couldn't figure out how to get it to record longer than about 25 seconds, but whatever - heh, it shows the point well enough. There are two videos. I made links to them in the first post.
Thanks for your patience. Shameless bump. |

Did you have mana troubles along the way at all?
|
|
" No, because I picked up mana nodes first and had a dream fragments ring at lvl 10. EDIT: Also thought about if you started with a Pernandus as well, which is lvlreq 1, you pretty much make mana cost into a joke at that point. I didn't have the ring when I started my sorc, but I wish I had now that I think about it. Last edited by MetalheadNorm#6595 on Aug 15, 2013, 1:46:44 AM

Thx for uploading those videos. The best use for fireball IMO is when you can kill offscreen mobs, before they surround you.
Just an update on my progression. I got to lvl 54 and just entered Merciless. I am still life based, 600 life and 1600 ES. I am still using The Searing Touch with a 3L: Fireball+LMP+Faster Casting. It was going pretty well in the end of Cruel. Currently about 600 DPS. I also reached 1000 Mana and 50 Mana regen. It's quite ok with my 3L. I am fortunate to have found Rainbowstride so it really helps out. Now I looking to buy a good 5L ES chest as I cannot afford a 6L... yet. I am also lacking Dream Fragments which is quite expensive. I am planning to switch to CI at 62 (if I can make there as Life based) and at 68 I plan to use Divinarius + Rathpith Globe combo. For this to work I really need to have that 5L ES chest. I am hoping that this setup will be enough to do maps. On the 5L I plan: Fireball+LMP+Life Leech+PCoC as a base. If damage is enough the 5th will be Faster Proj, if not Fire pen. Also I am having second thoughts about PCoC since by than I will have about 21% crit chance and a 45% chance to gain power charge from PCoC. These % are quite low so maybe I could skip the PCoC until get better %crit. Any thoughts on this? @MetalheadNorm What was the reasoning for taking the 10 int nodes path to the templar 40%mana regen instead of the 18% elemental damage? Did you in mind the int scaling and mana provided? I was thinking about something like this. Losing 10 dex and gaining 18% ele damage. Regarding Void Battery mechanics: Do the -80% reduced spell damage X 2 get you to negative spell damage? And then with 8 charges times 2 batteries add 400% spell damage?
