Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)
Iron grip aside, does the acquisition of extra shock duration and shock dmg outweigh moving over to iron grip and also grabbing the extra elemental damage nodes (plus ele resists if needed).
Here's my quick revision - removing the nodes toward improving shock and some life nodes near resolute technique, and branching over towards iron grip. Also re-ordered acquisition of iron reflexes so it can be obtained earlier. Last edited by smileycake#3466 on Feb 2, 2013, 7:33:37 AM

" hey smiley - a couple of observations on your build: 1. If you don't want to take Static Blows, that's ok (but remember, without Static Blows you can never shock with this build, as it cannot crit), but I wouldn't bother taking two +10 int nodes to get Fitness (far western side) 2. If you're only going to get Diamond Skin and Heart of the Gladiator in the mara start area, I wouldn't bother. Save yourself a net 6 points and stick to the outer western highway to get to Resolute Technique. The extra 6 points are not worth it just for the Diamond Skin and Gladitor, IMHO. You couldm, instead, use those 6 points to get 52% increased life. But remember, being able to stack shock is pretty powerful in a non-crit build, so give it careful thought before ditching it out of hand. Petrov. |

but isnt that 20% shock too low
i dont know is it separate 20% for each aoe each of multiple arrow fired or it decided that all of arrow in this shot surely shock |

Revised to remove diamond skin and heart, but add in the shock nodes.
Note I'm on my first run so I really have no idea, but it seemed to me that iron grip and the extra 30% ele dmg is very tempting. I've also been worried about lack of elemental resist (had 50% resist on my first build) since I may not be inclined to farm myself very good gear. First though I'd like to see how much iron grip actually contributes to a well geared character - hopefully someone can provide numbers. |

Big thanks for the update, was waiting for it to start my ranger.
A quick question: How would you rate the dps and survivability between the tanky shock build and the inner force build in a solo situation (no grp that benefits from shock stacks)? Does one do significantly more than the other? Basically does the 20% Shock chance outdo the additional elemental dmg nodes and the 30% stronger Wrath and Anger? The tanky shock build also seems to pick up a good bit of additional life, so I'd assume it's a bit better defensively? Or does the 30% boosted Grace compensate that? In any case, they seem identical for 87 of the 100 points, so I guess I can take my time with the decision. :D Edit: One more question: Is the all-out dps build viable for solo play? Or is it too fragile? I'm thinking about doing that build with a Shadow start, just for fun. Thanks again for your work. Last edited by Voidsurge#2943 on Feb 2, 2013, 8:50:54 AM

" They're really not so different. If in doubt, err on the side of tanky! The all out dps build is certainly viable solo - expect to use Totems to distract/slow down mobs, but frankly that's no different to any ranged build until you get OP gear and one-shot everything non-yellow. P. |

" Here's my suggested retooling of your build - not many huge changes, but a few to make it more efficient. The Leather and Steel nodes in the south are not worth the 6 points in my view. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBAdEEswUtCC4OrRRNGNsZjho4IWAj9iftKLUpTymlMgkyfjKJNZI26DpSOuE8LUCgQ5xGaUp9TP9N407IVgRW-lfiWK9br1-qYEtgiGFSY6dnoGz2bqpyqXPhdO108Xdid-V4DXq4eu982YKbguSGYId2iPGQCpARkFWbjZ65n8uiAKJAplenhKlurFmsqq6Tr2yv67Xytz7EosT2xYrGrtBH037dDd1G37_nY-w47YPuDu9O7_DwH_JF8930-PeI_E78xf4K_o8= I'll put this in the OP too, as many of you seem to want to see an RT-Iron Grip build. Thanks for the update!! Does it make a difference between the type of armor I use? For example, the armor/evasion type armor or full evasion armor since Iron Reflexes is being picked up.
|
|
" Generally, if you're taking IR, it's better to look out for pure Eva armour. Evasion armour tends to have higher absolute values of evasion (which converts one for one to armour), and also has less movement penalties (although this can be eliminated if you want to spend a point to get the armour master node in the southern highway). That being said, if you find great pure armour or armour/Eva hybrid armour with great resists or +life values - use it! P. |
