Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)
Based off of the all out dps build I did a few alterations using the same number of points because I wanted to see how iron grip would fit and would like to gets opinion on the changes.
Altered : The main difference is giving up 15% elemental damage to get iron grip which according to calculations will give roughly 60% projectile damage which applies I believe to both parts of lightning arrow. Though won't work for elemental damage added from auras. Using the offline application to compare passive stats the notable differences going from your build to mine are: +60 str -50 dex +10 int -20 max life node +8% max life -12% attack speed -24% projectile damage +6 attack speed with a bow +30% increased physical damage with bows +60.8% physical damage from strength applying to projectile attacks -15% increased elemental damage So a net lose of 6% attack speed, 15% elemental damage, and 10% evasion rating(due to dex). For a gain of 10 max life(due to str life), 8% max life, +30.8% projectile attacks, and +30% physical damage with bows. It also gets you close to Vaal Pact in the off chances you want to use it. |

petrov i have just noticed 1 thing , maybe im wrong,
in the dps build u didnt take the elementalist node ( 10 % extra elemental damage ) ( near the start of templar ) while on the tankier build u did , which makes it kinda strange for me , maybe should have been the other way ? IGN : Daryel

" If this is your first play through, I'd keep going and not respec right now. You will learn a lot by playing the game - my advice would be to get your own levels of understanding a bit higher, play to level 65 or 70 or so, and then decide how you want to make your "prefect build"..:) P. |
|
" This was just to fit within my self-prescribed 100 point limit. There is no rule here - if you'd rather get that node than not, feel free to, just sacrifice something else. P. |

" Getting phys damage boosters, if you don't have a great phys damage base, doesn't help a lot. The loss of IAS and Projectile Damage nodes will hurt more. Projectile damage and IAS apply to all your damage whether physical or elemental, so Projectile Damage and IAS give you great "bang for buck". If you do end up with a great physical bow, like the Lioeneye unique bow - then certainly you will want to respec into Iron Grip and then convert all that juicy phys damage into elemental damage by using things like Added Fire Damage, Hatred aura, some of the phys passive nodes near ranger start and other phys conversion/boosting gear, etc - and then boost it all by using a WED gem. This can give you insane DPS, but not many people (including me, yet...) can build around a Lioneye unique bow... Note: you say your build gives you "+30.8% projectile attacks" - but I think you mean "increased physical damage", which is a lot less aluable than "increased projectile damage". P. Petrov, both parts of Lightning arrow the elemental and physical damage part scales with physical damage so still seems strong
http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Damage_Types#Converted_Damage And yes you are right on the 30.8% being physical damage on projectile attacks. From the skills you listed the only part that physical damage increase won't effect is the damage gained from anger, wrath, and the flat elemental damage of elemental hit. So maybe its not worth the shift but idk 45% bonus to everything except anger, wrath, and elemental hit seems pretty strong.(subtracted the 15% elemental boost which probably would be less than 15% damage due to some damage still being physical but whatever) Last edited by Nirosu#5766 on Feb 2, 2013, 6:17:06 AM

why you stop using Iron Grip ?

" Nirosu - what'd be really interesting is if you're already specced into Iron Grip to use a regret and see what your dps is before/after speccing into it (and linking your gear and gem setup of course) so we can compare real world numbers? What do you reckon? P. |
