0.10.0! - In Depth Ground Slam Marauder
" Hey man, if you have a sec, I'd love for you to take a peek at the passive tree build I posted above your comment. I am playing a HC marauder right now and am doing fine... but am curious on what an experience PoE player thinks of the viability of the build |
I am confused... why are all these builds so STR focused? Don't you need other stats for being able to use support and skill gems? Grace, for example, seems awesome to me.
" Blood Magic? I have been using auras that only reserve a flat amount (instead of % based) of mana, and therefore HP. |
" Could you kindly clarify why this build will fail and post some build that in your opnion will succeeds in hardcore? |
" I THINK he believes this build will fail in hardcore because the build - despite having relatively high mitigation (keep in mind those stats are in CRUEL difficulty, those mitigation numbers will plummet as you increase difficulty) - has low effective health and regen. Also, there are very few skills increasing armor. The game, as far as my understanding goes, reduces ALL damage types, except elemental, from armor. Resistances only reduce elemental damage type. Chaos is not reduced by either, only chaos resistances reduce chaos damage. I've tried this in hardcore up to ruthless (the difficulty after cruel) and am in Act 2 chasing down the bandits - it has thus far been successful. Check it out Edit: Armor also has no effect on Chaos damage, wanted to clarify. Another edit: If anyone has any feedback on the build provided, I'd love to hear it. Am considering writing a guide - but the marauder is my first try at the game and wanted to have a bit more depth before throwing a "guide" out there ... I don't want to be responsible for someone's hardcore death D: Last edited by saadatorama#0825 on Aug 21, 2012, 2:41:20 PM

" You can't critique a 111 point build (at least not usefully). Drop it to intervals of like 25/50/75 (and stop at 75!) and then there's something to critique. The route you take to your build, is at least as important as the final build. Also, in commenting on the original build for Hardcore: It's fine, but you have to focus on +hp gear until your resistances get somewhere near 75%, someone who tried this right out of the gate and focused on the Dmg/stun nodes would get gibbed on their first d-sync. The 85 point build is close to optimal IMO, but you have to go for Diamond skin, then Resolute, get endurance charge & endurance charge extension, then Golem's blood, then flesh out the rest. With the resistances being the last part. The only changes to focus on Hardcore are: skip the Stun related nodes, and I've skipped the Mace nodes because I got a crazy sword pretty early. And I went the south route to Diamond skin, I like the reduced Crit and trolls blood for HC. In hardcore, you have to roll 4/5 stack enduring cry at all times (it's easy, 1 mob gives 1 charge). I'm not an expert, but I have a 60 HC 2h marauder, and I've lived through a ton of de-syncs. Cheers, Last edited by Vandal2k#0641 on Aug 22, 2012, 12:49:36 PM
