I'm currently still in act 2 cruel, RT seems so wasteful when you can't crit and especially cos you won't be able to make use of the "recharge 1 charge on crit" flask affix. But since you say the chance to hit goes does drastically in high levels I do suppose that RT is a necessity haha. Thanks a lot for the reply btw (:

Once you're around level 80, your chance to hit will be around 70-75% unless you dump a bunch of passives into accuracy. Most bows have a 5% crit chance. There is a reason why RT is so popular. If you have a Lioneye's Glare you don't need it, but for a build that relies heavily on LGOH, such as mine, you can't afford to miss 25% of the time.

just one question, why is it necessary to stack lightning damage? I thought since we cant crit, the 20% Shock chance is the only way to shock, does it still matter how much lightning damage we have?

Good job on the build, not following it 100% but its really well made!

Yeah, the amount of lightning damage you have is a major factor in determining whether or not you will shock a mob. First of all, you need to understand shock duration. Shock duration is based on how much lightning damage an enemy takes from a given projectile, relative to the target's maximum life.

You have a 20% chance to shock. Even if a projectile meets that 20% chance, it's still not a guaranteed shock. If a shock will not have a duration of at least 300 milliseconds, the shock will not happen at all. And even then, a 300ms shock isn't very long, though sometimes it can be long enough for another chain bounce to hit that mob and add another stack of shock and extend the duration. Still, you want your shocks to last longer than 1/3 of a second. Shock duration is proportional to the amount of lightning damage dealt relative to the target's maximum life. Mobs with more life are harder to shock. Bosses and rare mobs are extremely difficult to shock if you have a low amount of lightning damage.

There's the thing where Alpha boosts auras by 2 levels. I might have to stock up on regrets and conduct some tests. Here are some average values:

lvl 18 Wrath - 128 dmg
lvl 18 Anger - 107 dmg

Total for the above: 235 dmg

lvl 20 Wrath - 150
lvl 20 Anger - 125

Total for the above: 275 dmg

lvl 22 Wrath - 174.5
lvl 22 Anger - 145.5

Total for the above: 320 dmg

Now my calculations for the aura effect boost:
With 16% increased effect - 319 dmg (lvl 20 gems)
With 24% increased effect - 341 dmg (lvl 20 gems)
With 16% increased effect and lvl 22 gems - 371 dmg

It appears to me the difference is only about 30 elemental damage in favor of Alpha.

The multipliers on belts/rings/amulets/quivers would boost those extra 30 dmg a bit, too.

All of this leads me to believe that the loss of resistances/stats/life on the helm might not be worth it. Any thoughts?

Disclaimer: I am terrible at maths, take the above calculations with a grain of salt.

How does this build fare vs. reflect maps? (elemental and phys)

I'm thinking of trying this build after I finish my MF char

That depends on the level and quality of your LGOH gem for Split Arrow, and especially your Life Leech gem for Frenzy. It's not bad at all though, even in reduced max resist maps I never lose life from attacking mobs; just gain it back slower.

Do you think it's possible to do this build on a self-found character? I think I'll actually do this as my MF char instead... seems much more interesting than my summoner atm

More interesting than summoner? Definitely. Possible to play completely self-found? Not a chance :p

could you use semi-mf?

me too i want to make a boss runner, or a map farmer with MF.
so i made a summoner MF but the killing speed is jsut so slow...
so i thought hey maybe an archer (nice clear speed) and some mf with it? would it be viable?
