Also, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on linking Lightning Strike; this is my current Lightning Strike 5L:



For the last two blue support I'm using Power Charge on Crit and Crit Damage. Would it be better to use Increase Critical Strikes instead of Crit Damage as to get more chances to shock? Or is the added shock duration from the Crit Damage more useful?

It depends on your actual crit chance.
The higher your current crit chance, the more efficient crit damage over ICritStrikes ( and the higher your multiplier, the more efficient increased crit strike is too ).
For example, on my melee CI ranger, I use dual strike as a main strike, and I have around 45% crit chance total approximatively with almost no bonus crit dmg from my tree and not much from gear. Crit dmg is much much better for me than increased crit strikes.

But if you have onlt 20%crit chance with already nice multiplier, then maybe you should consider it.

Well with no buffs I have 45% Crit Chance, 51% with the Critical Strikes Support, and although the Crit Damage gives higher tooltip DPS, I was thinking that the extra crits from Crit Strikes might end up dealing more actual DPS because of the faster stacking to 120% shock damage and 4 Power Charges.

Or am I completely wrong and the Crit Damage still ends up as more?

Ahh ok makes sense now that I think about it; shock probably stacks really fast already at 45% Crit Chance, and the Inc. Crit Strikes isn't much of an improvement. Thanks!

Can i use it as an range spell or preferable use it as melee?

I have a question about LS gear links. I just acquired my first 6s5L chest and was wondering, what is the best 5L combination for lightning strike?

Specifically, what about multistrike vs. faster attacks? I swapped the gems out and multistrike increased my DPS slightly, yet I don't see many people using this combination after the patch fix.

Personally this is what I use which is what I listed before:



LS+LMP+FA+PCOC+Crit Damage

I'm currently using this combination because I have not been lucky enough with my Chromatics yet to roll the colors I really want which are GGRRB instead of GGRBB on the 5L part of the chest. Once I am able to get that color combination the links I want to use are:

LS+LMP+FA+Weapon Elemental Damage+PCOC(or Crit Damage)

Which I believe is the best 5L combination.

Regarding Multistrike vs. Faster Attack always go with FA. Multistrike was better BEFORE they bug-fixed it which is why a lot of people used it, but now that the damage is reduced by 50% like it was intended to be, you will do absolutely crap damage compared to FA.

Also with Multistrike another downside I noticed was that Lightning Thorns will DESTROY you. With FA yes, I took damage, but it was mitigable at least. With Multistrike I actually ended up one-shotting myself in a 67 (!!!!!!) map AT LEVEL 80 with just one three-hit burst of Lightning Strike.

I was able to link LS-FA-Crit Damage-LMP-PoC. The DPS counter still says my DPS has dropped compared to when I had it linked with multistrike though...Not sure if this combination yields the most DPS

Yeah on my chest I started out BBBBB so I saved up 300 Chroms to attempt my RRGGB, but to no avail :[

I got my current colors, GGRBB, 5 times in that 300 so it's not too hard of a combo, but RRGGB makes me cry. Probably gonna have to save up at least 1k if not more Chromatics.
