For those of you struggling, the main thing I can tell you is getting Ghost Reaver and using Warlords Mark will GREATLY increase your survivability. This is more so for cruel + so like lvl 40ish. If you are having trouble grab that node and start using your WL mark. Archers are the devil keep them at max range use your lightning strike(with hatred aura) and keep them frozen and at a distance. If you need to be tanking pop that granite flask and win out.

I'm about to give up here. I'm level 54 and I can't even start Merciless, dock runs isn't getting me any gear. I can't climb over this wall and I'm not sure what I should be doing right now to try to improve my gear because it's crap.

ok since many people are talking about when to go CI or not i might be able to explaine some stuff that might clear some question marks that i see here and then :P and btw i want to everybody know that im doing this build in HARDCORE and NOT on SOFTCORE!
first im gonna start showing my gear

this is my gear as you can see i try to max out armor and evasion why, because in cruel and merciless you will the most get your ass kicked when going for evasion and CI early on where you wont have any defencive stats, that said even if you have full resistances (max 75%) you will still take a lot of dmg from mobs because not many mobs do elemental dmg. some mobs do mixed (elemental and even physical dmg) or just pure physical dmg, and from not having any kind of armor you will take a full hit from the physical dmg and that will drain your HP very fast so what i do here is maxing my elemental resistance and maxing out armor with evasion as much as possible for these reason. 1. to take as little elemental dmg as possible 2. to take as little physical dmg as possible 3. to be able to evade as much as possible 4. auras im using is determination for armor, grace for evasion, hatred for some dps and wrath for some extra dps this is what i value the most, survivabilty! because when i go and farm or whatever i want to feel comfty when going against mobs and have the controll over not dying, and knowing that when i am on low hp i can still survive hits here and there to escape. and with my gear i have now i can faceroll act2 merciless with no problem i can even tank elites/champion packs except i cant take on vaal yet since he do TO much dmg atm to me. i always try to max out my survivabilty more then dmg output because as i always say, you cant dps when you are dead, and trust me i do pretty good dmg with lightning strike still even when i dont have a 5-linked chest. so my suggestion is to max evasion and armor and always have 2 granite flask with you with 2 hp pots (1 panic and 1 normal) and now you are all wondering but what about CI? well i can tell you this im level 70 and i havent still specced to CI just because i still havent found the gear to use the CI passive nod, so what i do is grind fellshrine all day long to find currency and gear for upgrades when i got to merciless act2 was when i was level 60 and before that i was grinding ledge to level up to 60 just so i could upgrade some gear so i could progress to act2. i hope most of this answers your question next time try to look in invalescos guide because in one of thoes spoiler bars it explaine what you should do for cruel and merciless and he even explains what skill you should use before saying "im giving up soon" or "this build is to hard" yes it is hard but not that hard that most people think, what is hard is to get the necessery gear in the end to go CI successfully! enjoy! " Pretty much this. This build has pretty specific build requirements. You have to farm for it. If you can't farm Docks, go back to Fellshrine until you have the equips to farm docks. PS - Fire Res somewhat counters Voidbearers. A pack of them will still hurt but you'll be able to tank 2-3 with 75% fire res and decent ES. Also as a side note, I respec'd to CI at 48 with 1k ES and could barely handle Ledge on Merciless. I effectively farmed from 48 to 66 and solo'd most of Act 3 except for the sewers. Because fuck those leaping/flicker spamming mobs. If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.

So is CI shadow even worth it (Not to be rude, but the nerfs..)
You will have to pay at least 20 exalt to build a decent character but it's still outmatched by many other classes.. |

Here is the deal. I am level 63, and my gear sucks. so far I have managed to get my
through crazy luck, and I can generate SOME currency, but people are charging so much for ES gear. I have traded my way to 3 exalted orbs which I would believe would get me a solid chestpiece, but I cant seem to find an honest deal anywhere. How are you guys doing it?? I even tried to step back, try the long hard expensive way and craft my own chest piece. High end white 6L armor for hybrid, pure armor and pure evasion seems to go for about what I have, but for SOME REASON everyone who has a 6L vaal regalia tells me I'm a noob and they are worth like 15 exalted. By my figures I am a solid chest/shield away from going CI, and the more I get the more people tell me things cost. /rage |
