No, Iron Refelexes doesn't work like this. The true formula is :

Final armour = base armour * (1 + %armour) + base evasion * (1 + %armour + %evasion)

Can somebody confirm that this formula is the right one? If this formula is true, then that means if I go full evasion, I should not pick up any increased armour nodes.
That forumla is correct, yes. I have no idea why you'd draw the conclusion that means you should not pick any increased armour nodes, though. It clearly shows that they affect your armour, both from base armour and from base evasion.
ah, my bad, my formula was applying the evade bonus to base armor, instead of just the base evade like it should

Rangers are one of the most brittle classes in PoE

I feel that most people think the ranger (read: archer) is squishy because they choose a build without a shield and they feel like they need to keep pumping their dps overly high (usually while saying, "My character is safe when everything dies at the edge of the screen!").

There have been a number of IR, Iron Grip, strength and HP ranger (read: archer) builds posted on the forums that hit Merciless with almost 2k hp and almost as much armor as a marauder.

I hear bows are hard to use with a shield... Archer comes from latin and means bow user. Bow Ranger without IR is a pure glass cannon.

Ummm because I have less nodes to travel.

How IR stacks with Unwavering Stance? Will you gain all bonuses to armor from evasion rate but also be imune to stun?

Absolutely your evasion doesn't become 0 defacto, you just can't evade. so you should get all benefits. And evasion is good, acrobatics is niche skill,(wouldn't have taken for melee unless used 3-4 uniques), if you are archer and don't have block you'd probably better get enough evasion and go for ES (if reaching critical number of armor is far above your abilities).

Sorry for being stupid, but I'm still not clear on how best to make use of this keystone. If I take Iron Reflexes, is it better to be using pure evasion gear, or hybrid ev/ar gear? Or are they both equally good?

And in either case, am I better off taking %armour nodes, %evasion nodes, or the dual nodes? Or, again, is it all equally as good?
If the formula above is still the same u should use nodes that give u both and use evasion only gear.

The post with the formula are from august last year. can someone confirm that the formula is still unchanged?

The formula is always correct, but the "Leather and Steel" nodes are coint only one time (so as armour in the formula for IR) and not two times like it was at the beginning (it was really OP).
Your answer confuses me a littel bit.

Final armour = base armour * (1 + %armour) + base evasion * (1 + %armour + %evasion)

example: when i take a 8% leather and steal node:

Final armour = 100 * ( 1 + 0,08) + 100 * (1 + 0,08 + 0.08)
224 = 108 + 116

or

Final armour = 100 * (1 + 0,08) + 100 * ( 1+ 0.08)
216 = 108 + 108

Whats right?
