and to think that d2 only had 2 skill spots (as far as I can remember)

We need a separate aura bar atleast. Right now it's just a pointless hassle to activate them and change the skills around. It would not affect balance in any way.

TIME TO BUMP.

Here is my new idea :

The whole Skill bar should change when you swap weapons, not only the gems within weapons.

It means that if you had this 6 gems :




You could Allocate Enduring cry and Clarity and the curse + 1 totem in the first skill bar
If you switch, you would allocate teh second totem to the bar. You got the idea.

What do you think guys ?

Not sure if it has been already mentioned, but if they can't increase the number of skill slots, maybe they could do other things:

- when you press a kb key and scroll, the middle skill slot should rotate the available skills (pref auras take priority).

- press space (or other key) and one of the skill bar shortcuts keys in order to activate a second skill. For example, you can have fireball and icenova on the same skill slot (shortcut "W") and you can press W for fireball, but also you can press w+space for icenova. Same for the other skill slots.
Your skill bar is going to be limited by your gem slots/links. It seems a lot of the complaints are likely from lower level players when they can run the gem unsupported. When you get to endgame and you have your 6l skill and your 4l skill and your multiple auras linked to reduced mana that you don't even need a dedicated slot for, you actually often run out of skills to put in your toolbar. The toolbar size is just fine then.

uh, the problem is actually a lot of people actually have way more skills than slots
sounds to me that you only see this game as played one way, whereas actually skill bar just limits the skills

I run and have gems equipped for:

arctic armor
4-5 auras
double curse
arc
skellie totem
enduring cry
dom blow
summon zombies, spectres
molten shell

even with micromanagement, I simply run out of slots.

You cast your auras in the lab or wherever, then you put a skill over them. No one should be keeping their auras on their toolbar after you cast them.

That's 8 skills for 8 slots. You'd need to put something like dominating blow on your left mouse, but that's the price you pay for running a bunch of skills.

Speaking of, how exactly would your gear even link properly? What level are you?

You have a maximum total of 24 slots (6 on your chest, 4 on your helm, 4 on your gloves, 4 on your boots, 6/3+3 on your hands). Your spectres should be in a 4l (4) at least if you're going a summoner. Your skellie totem needs at least 2 links (2). Your zombies should probably at least take up 3 links for something like zombies, melee splash, and multistrike (3). Your 4-5 auras should need reduced mana (6). That's 17 gem slots already. That means you have 7 remaining slots for arctic armor, enduring cry, arc, dominating blow, and molten shell.

Something is going unlinked that should be linked. And this is presuming you have the MAXIMUM POSSIBLE gem sockets.

You should link your gear and your spec, because clearly there is some stuff that can be streamlined and improved.
