Make this step and POE will be better than D2.
Okay, here is the "second phase of the Open Beta".
This is now the time to stop making more ingame content, microtransactions, and concentrate only on trading&social system, which is the less improved part of the game, while it should be the most. An online game like this is built around trading, but now trade system is a mess, and it determines really the feeling of gameplay. Game graphics doesnt really matter without a good game system Trading is(should be) a good thing, making a good bargain with a player brings as much joy as finding a good item drop. (in diablo 2 i spent equal time with farming and trading and enjoyed both really.) Now the only way to trade your item is through tradingchat or forum. But these are neither effective, nor entertaining to do. You cannot sell your items via chat, because everyone's spaming linking 10 of their items at once, and noone will check them all, also it's hard to find the item there that suits you. Forum trading is good only for finding the godlike items, but not for fast trading, finding lowlevel items. You have to send pm's for an item, find a seller who is online, wait till an auction ends, and since its obvious everyone's using the shop indexer, its worse than the diablo3's Auction House. So you end up with full stacks of items, low uniques you can't get rid of. This makes that when you find a good item you won't be so happy because you will have to struggle selling it. The communication between two people trading is summed up with this : "No, you say offer first" (...) So the most problems: -There is no communication or trading between people in the same town instance. -The only ways to trade an item is trading chat or forum. -There is no ITEM VS ITEM trading, only ITEM VS CURRENCY. By improving trading I don't mean giving ppl the easiest way to find the item they want like an an auction house, there won't be any inflation, I only want making trading enjoyable and less monotonous. Here is a solution for example :

It is a really good thing in the game that players are instanced in towns, so at a moment there are always about 10-30 players in town. But the trade does not work among these people. People only use trading chat, or the forum. But in my opinion trading in town could be really awesome with some development. Here is the thing:
There should be a new tab in stash which's content would be visible to other players, and we would only put the items in there which we want to trade most. Other people could only see each other's "selling tab" if they are in the same instance of a town, and they could do it by a new function by right clicking to a player and select "see selling tab". This function wouldn't be available through trade channel or whisper. to advertise your stash content : 1. It would be really good if people could "yell" in towns, so their massage could be visible above the character's model, like it was in diablo2. This function could be shut off if a player doesnt want to see these. 2. People could place advertising message above somewhere what they sell in their stash. These messages could be listed in a new tab in social window called "Trading". When you are in town, you could check what people sell, and another good thing would be that ppl would stop advertising on public parties tab. I hope some developer found this post. If so, pls reply! And do not make these features as microtransaction. Also, if i were a develoer i wouldn't wait giving players guilds... If you feel the same, bump the post with your thoughts about this. _____________________________________________________________ replies considerable

What made me write this post was simple reasons, I'm no trading addict. -When i leveled up from low level I could't trade gear with other people at my level. Because of this, lowlevel rares, uniques will stay in your chest, and when you try to sell them later on chat you won't be able to. -I dont like to see that there are 30 ppl in town only going for vendors and stash, but there is no other action between them. For example after a trade you can make friendship... -The nostalgia of the feeling of D2 trading, and the BIG disappointment of D3 Auction house. -the trading chat, only currency VS item trading, full stash tabs of items you cant trade. I'm pretty sure there are people with different skill sets working on this game. The art guys, the game mechanics guys, the programmers, etc. They don't have to quit one thing to work on another.

To be quite honest, all bias and nostalgia behind, and in full knowledge of my impending lynching... I think PoE is actually better than D2.

" It may well be me, but one of us is definitely in denial. ARPGs are built around loot gathering, not trading. While the online component makes trading possible, it doesn't change the foundation of what the game is, which is killing monsters and rifling through their pockets. That's not to say that there shouldn't be some focus from GGG on the trade systems in the game. It is to say, though, that such focus should be secondary in my opinion, as trading is a secondary element of an ARPG. |

I wouldn't mind at all if they focused on this aspect of the game, but please please please make it as unobtrusive as possible for those of us that play strictly solo. No shouting in town without the ability to mute it please.
