A majority of D2 players moved on to D3. What is the point?

Seriously? I would bet money most of those players played D2 longer then D3. Your last point was that they are most likely more used to instanced, which is wrong.

What Planetfall said. People grow, people change. What was good then isn't necessarily good now. Different expectations have been set. People tasted the forbidden fruit of instanced loot and can't go back now that they know such things are possible.

That may be true, but how many D2 players are still playing D3 today?
And GGG will get many players soloing (like me) that doesnt like their loot being stolen (like me) and that will feel annoyed (like me) when they play a ranged class (like i do alot) and not reaching loot in time and dying to boss adds/summons when they scramble to pick up loot (like i would do in a Pub Team).

Im not alone on this issue, and pretty much the issue is further reinforced because of D2 and how players percieved looting there.

One can argue in circles all day but when it comes down to facts, the result is this:
*loot drops*
*everybody in a pub party dives in on the loot when enemies is alive, while spamming the left mouse button hoping to reach the loot in time*.

The proper question is: How many of those players that played D2, moved to D3, are waiting for a game like this, that is like D2? A lot. With proper advertising and word of mouth this game will be huge. If you don't want to support the devs image, that's fine. You can enjoy playing solo and become bored as you say you will.

I have to ask, based on your wording, have you played a pub game? Or are you just going by what others are saying?

I'm sorry, I can't find any question to which the answer would be relevant to Planetsurvival's statement, my comment on it, or the (dis)proval of either in the post which you pointed out to me. Please restate what question you mean and I will try to answer it.

Here i think, is the post you wanted:

Spoiler
Here's another thought for your consideration, would-be defenders of tense, cut-throat douchebaggery. First, I'll arbitrarily invent wholly nonsensical categories, and just as arbitrarily lump large groups of people into these categories:

Let GREENS be players who prefer an environment of fairly distributed loot, wherein the system itself allocates said loot, thus preventing any sort of intra-party drama and struggle over loot allocation.

Let REDS be players who receive a deep, vast, nipple-tingling thrill at the idea of players in a "party" all fawning and clawing over every single piece of gear that hits the ground in a carnivorous fray of greed and drool.

Let's also arbitrarily posit that all GREEN players of this game are disgusted at the idea of ever finding themselves in a party with a RED. Thus, all GREENS can and will simply play solo games to avoid any such circumstance.

However, GREENS would in fact adventure in groups if they could be guaranteed that they would never find themselves in a RED situation -- such as allowing them the option of creating GREEN-ruleset games, or creating and/or joining a GREEN-ruleset league.

Given all of this arbitrariness, I posit a question to you, you fine, upstanding REDS of PoE:

WHAT in the HELL would you CARE?! How would YOUR play experience be detracted in the slightest if we GREENS could all scurry off and hide in our own, GREEN-only games, as opposed to what we do now, which is to scurry off and hide in our own, solo games?

Actually i played with a friend, and by the end of the area if i recall correctly, he got very little loot due to me being melee (Duelist) and him being caster.
If it was a pub, the issues would have been even worse as i gave my friend some gear i looted when we headed to town i think.
So you don't have any experience whatsoever with playing in pub games?

So that is more of a timer issue, then an actual FFA issue. I don't mind if the timer is extended a couple seconds. It also shows that since your friend trusts you, he didn't jump on his drops. Chances are in a pub game he would have gotten more loot, not less. Since he would have been paying closer attention t drops. Its highly likely he would not get every drop in his name though. He would have just gotten someone else's loot to compensate.
