Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" That's is YOUR opinion. And there a lot of "us" telling you how it should work and how it IS a bad design. And that's my opinion, and im not alone in here. And GGG is working to create a good game, not please everyone, ok. But it's gonna be a good game where you don't play in public's, the majority of the players for sure. Just check how few public party's roll on right now. And wen more people come to the game, it's not gonna go any better, because the system is flawed. So what is the point of having cosmetic pets, player skins, alternate spell animations… when a significant portion of the game population avoids co-op?

" This has been one of my biggest concerns from the start. I would be interested in buying that stuff if I played public games more often. Its possible I might change my mind down the road but at the moment I just don't like public games enough to spend currency on flashy cool looking cosmetics. If I didn't have to deal with FFA loot I would be in there nearly every play session. Standard Forever

In retrospect, this was a really good solution that I like a lot. If you're playing with just one other person, it's sort of lackluster as it removes almost all of the "adrenaline rush" from the drops, but if you are in groups of 3, 4, 5 etc it's actually a very good mechanic.

" I'd just like to chime in and throw my support behind this idea here. Skins only sell so well in League of Legends because players know they will be able to show off their skins to other players. However if people avoid playing in parties because the FFA loot setting discourages it than there's no real point to buying a nice skin. Say in the future they add blue flames to my fire spells instead of red, which is something I personally want. Sure I could buy it but if I'm the only one who's going to see it than what's the point? FFA doesn't need to go away, If you want it for your party and I join your party I can chose to stay or go, but for GGG's business model to succeed there needs to be a reason to party with people and FFA is inhibiting that. |

Yeah, good luck showing off your new cosmetics to other people when playing maps! They're going to have to squint real hard to get a glimpse of your new cosmetic in-between item names ><
Exaggerating a little bit of course, but just a little ;) |

My two cents, as a brand new player to this game, but a veteran of many others.
I think the option to choose your loot style when creating a public party in the default league can only help the game. For more tense leagues, remove this option. This satisfies the desire of some players for an alternative to FFA, while still allowing GGG to up the ante in competitive play. Alternatively, create a casual league with unique loot rules. The key is player choice, which is lacking in the current implementation. |

" I really like the idea of league controlled loot options. Best compromise so far! A cut throat league with random groups and full FFA loot would be a rush. IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client Last edited by wrathmar#4456 on Dec 19, 2012, 1:07:59 PM

" #1 lots of people play co-op, just not public games. #2 so you’re SO poor you can’t deal with co-op loot because you MIGHT lose something out to a stranger. Really? you just can’t take that risk eh? I guess that is our loss. #3 many people get invited to private games by looking for a group in global chat or local chat. I just can’t stand this topic any more. Everything has been said over and over again repeatedly. The loot system functions as designed, it is not an oversight or mistake, you are not expected to "like" it. Playing in a party is a shared experience. Just because some people can’t handle sharing does not mean the game should be made to cater to them. There are no “options” that could be added that would not ultimately be applied to everyone. |
