In terms of map drops is alt-regal mazing going to have better returns for the cost than chaosing for something nice like pack size or bandits?

Depends on you. We've found little difference thus far. It really depends on what you want out of the map and what you're willing to spend. Is it better to use 15 Chaos Orbs to yield a Maze or can you just do it with 5 Chaos equivalent in alter-regal?

You can judge for yourself but take into account the opportunity cost. 15 Chaos at lower tiers could very well just net you more maps than you would get just running it at the cost of EXP.
Revisions have been made to the Shrine map.
I would suggest reviewing the Boiling ambusher Asphyxia comments, as, especially in the lvl 72 Waste pool, "poses no threat whatsoever" is no longer true.

It has gained a few new tricks:
- Fast summoning of pure water elemental (annoying but not hard)
- a new ice lance with modified artwork (which is kinda laggy on older PC btw) which poses a real threat coupled with GMP and/or unique bosses buff.

Agreed. She packs a significant punch in the new skill revision.

Also @Lyraei, thanks for mentioning the chaos versus alt-regal tradeoff.
The chance to Vaal +1% maximum resists on an amulet is less than 1/300.
Revisions made to the difficulty of Crematorium. It has been moved from ♦♦♦♦ to ♦♦♦♦♦. The boss is now substantially more difficult.

Two questions.

1) How brutal is the Temple Piety, exactly? When I eventually hit the 71 map bracket, I'd like to have some ballparks on how hard she can hit through 80-85% Lightning resist. I'm assuming I'll be fine with over 5k HP and only engaging when I have a running Topaz Flask.

2) What's generally the best way to not get starved for Alterations when trying to keep important maps like Grotto/Sewer/Spider Lair Mazed? I've taken to picking up and IDing everything in every map and I'm still sitting with a half dozen of these maps in my stash that I cannot run because they lack Maze.

1) IMO tackling Temple-Piety is not worth it: the rewards are equal to any other boss: nice but not overwhelming. Unless you are overgeared (90% lightning res) or use tricks (off-screen Added Chaos Damage arrows) she will still be dangerous. The -15% XP will come up every once in a while. Plunder the Mazed Temple and leave Piety alone. I'm now at 97% of the next level, have 4 Regal-Mazed Temples saved up and will do them once I hit the next level, just to protect myself from XP-loss through Piety.

2) Do not maze Grottos, Sewers and Spider Lairs. With some shopping they can be bought for 0.5, 1 and 2 fuses respectively (4, 8 and 16 alts). A rough guesstimate based on limited experience: a Maze costs 20 alts, and will make the map about double-size. Therefore it is not useful to Maze these maps: buying a second one is cheaper.

The first time it becomes worth it is at 69: Overgrown Shrines (mandatory) and Tunnels (good but not mandatory). Save your alts for those.

Unless you (like some) have a taboo against buying maps, in which case you are on your own :)

Man you deserve a Platinum Kiwi =D Thx for the great guide.

I have one question: does twinned work on maps with double bosses? like arcade or promedane? Will there be 2 pairs of bosses or it just wont work?
IGN: Maelifica
Twinning works and will give 4 bosses on dual-Boss maps. It's great on Arcade, it was not so great on Promenade, but now that they nerfed Lightning Thorns, it's probably great again.

This is a brilliant point. You're simply burning your currency.
