Map Management Resource

Thanks.

It helps in this game if you are cheap like me.

Right now I use Alts to Maze Overgrown Shrine and Tunnel. If I get a good 2nd roll on the Shrine (pack size, magic/rare monsters), I Regal it.

Maps level 70 fortunately have no real decider maps:
- I trade 3 Underground Seas for a 71 Temple
- I alc the rest, sort them on Quantity, play the highest and once in a while Chaos Orb a few of the worst.

On level 71 it gets harder.
- I chisel Shrine, Nest and Woods
- I Maze+Regal the Shrine,
- I alc the Collonade and Strand
- I don't know what to do with Nest and Woods. Right now I save them and throw a Chaos at them once in a while. I find it so hard to seriously start Chaos Orbing maps....these Orbs take real work to get.

And am dreading level 72 where I can alc Mine, but have to chisel the rest and start seriously Chaosing them as well.

Dear Maligaro,
I left my head in San Francisco, I lost my legs in Peru
My liver and kidney are on holiday in Sydney
And I am sending my Heart to you

When I get home from work, I am going to do this. Thank you for the tip.

We're going to be so poor.
The chance to Vaal +1% maximum resists on an amulet is less than 1/300.

Two questions.

1) How brutal is the Temple Piety, exactly? When I eventually hit the 71 map bracket, I'd like to have some ballparks on how hard she can hit through 80-85% Lightning resist. I'm assuming I'll be fine with over 5k HP and only engaging when I have a running Topaz Flask.

As long as you watch out for shocks, she's not that bad. I would advice using a Topaz flask, as well as a life flask, both dispelling shocked. She does a lot of damage even when she's off screen, which makes her seem a lot worse than she is. But once you realize she's not any worse in melee range it gets a lot easier. You should also watch out for her lightning ball, as it does a lot of damage.

I've only done her once myself, on a Rain of Arrows marauder (85% res, 4.6k hp). The map had no nasty affixes, so I figured I'd give her ago. I equipped my Topaz flask and ran up in melee with Chin Sol and it was surprisingly easy. About halfway through I got double shocked, down to 40% and ran away to regen. I ran back and finished the rest of her without going below about 2/3 life. I don't think I could have done her with -max resist and possibly not slow/no regen. She's definitely the worst boss I've tried so far, but not by such a huge margin.
People talk about trying go get a steady flow of 70+ maps... but I cant even get lvl 66-67 maps!...

I am following the tips in this thread as much as I can afford, but I have only ever seen ONE lv l 70 map, and just now I COMPLETELY ran out of maps, not even a lvl 66 left...

Shit happens. I had a flow where I got 6 maps out of 27 and that makes you feel like the world collapses.

All I can say is: do some catacombs runs, buy a new bunch of 66s or 67s and get mapping. Sooner or later the RNG will roll your way.

@Dauemannen: I think you are making my point exactly...Piety can be done, but she is dangerous. At -15% XP you don't want dangerous. If there is a 1% she kills you, it is already -EV.

@MasterCard: cheapness is everything. When you are rolling mazes, and roll only one property (but a good one, such as packsize), use an Augment instead of an Alter (they are only 1/4th the cost, yet have 1/2 the probability of rolling that maze)

-max resistance is now a mandatory reroll on Crematorium. Our group just took incoming damage excess of 6000+ from a single attack from Magaera. I myself took 6000 damage from her Firestorm and Troof took 10k.

Sure, if you really value your XP (or are playing hardcore), that might be true. But I value my maps at least as highly as my XP, and she has a fair chance of dropping both maps and some nice loot. Unless you're playing a real glass cannon or have terrible gear, your chance of dying probably isnt much higher than 1%, as long as you have the correct flasks. Sure, if you're scared of her you might want to wait until just after leveling up before trying her for the first time, but it's not really necessary.

I just did her again, and now I knew what I was doing it was a lot easier than last time. I never went below 50% life.
Thanks for the replies. I'll take this into account next time I play.

In my opinion the guide is totally gay. The reason is because I can do any map. No regen maps aren't easy but still I can do them.
All the map description is useless. Personally for me good map is with open areas where I can tank big packs and bad maps are which have many tunnels. There is only one reason why I like maps with open ares and the reason is because I can clear them very fast.
Maybe I'm wrong but all the same lv maps have the same exp. amount. So what matters is only clearance speed.
People who have squishy characters maybe they value the info for me is pile of garbage. I do every map because I do not want to waste my alchemy orbs.

Evilclown009, i think the main goal of this guide was to at least try to get one map drop in return so that you won't go out of maps, most of the advise the op give seam to do that at least, it's not much about how difficult they are depending on your build. I personally prefer when mobs are packed for ex. Anyway this kind of guide is god send for people that solo and that have a clue what they are doing, maps are clearly rare drops (my first toon that was at 66 had like 2 or 3 maps tops), so you really need to manage them well.

There is a guy "Boxsalesman" also making youtube videos about the map bosses and give some tricks about them, that would probably be a great addition to this guide.
