Whats wrong with this picture guys? Inventory Space in PoE issue.

D3 sucks. It's for kids and Blizzard fanboys who never grew up. Its inventory system is designed for children. It looks cartoonish. Path of Exile's inventory is just fine as is. Go play a real Blizzard game like Diablo 1 and see how inventory is supposed to be (hint: it's just like Path of Exile).

I will admit that during the Merveil fight I go back to town to fill up flasks, but that's only there, because there are no enemies to beat up. :D

I am pretty sure this will be fixed soon. As in, you portal out, the mob regains all health.

Meh, they shouldn't "fix" that. My build runs out of mana on certain bosses while other similar builds with just as much mana regen would do more damage and kill a boss without running out of mana.
Funny how certain issues rear their heads time and time again.

I proposed a solution long ago.

I also explained my rationale for why the inventory system exists the way it is.

The vendor mechanism is a tool to allow those that 'pack rat' their prizes to receive a reward. It is not intended to monetize every single item that falls on the ground. It is a mini-game to allow those that enjoy the micromanagement aspect of inventory management to be rewarded for their time.

Those that are interested in the core action of killing stuff are not forced to play the inventory management mini-game. Instead, the drop rate for items that are desired should be set sufficiently high that there is no need to play the inventory mini-game to progress.

The balance is achieved by the amount of time it takes to play the mini-game. If the vendor system is too easy/simple/quick to use, it skews the benefit to the action player. If the vendor system is too rewarding, it skews the benefit to the hoarders.

There is no design reason to justify the inventory space being so limited at this time and age.

In D3, inventory space is never an issue. People actually run around with spare MF gear to exchange in mid fight and have enough space to pickup the loot from bosses, champions and chests and there is always space left.

That's one of the reasons. If you want MF gear you should have to sacrifice some other stats, not just have a full set that you can switch to when the boss is almost dead.
I agree heartily, the inventory is WAY too small.
one more row on the inventory would make me very happy.

as for the comparison between games, i like D3's inventory and i like PoE's inventory. each seems to suit the way the game/loot drops play out.

we should be able to turn the items 90 degrees by pressing , or . to make inv management easier and more realistic everything in the world can be turned unless its like a vial that shouldn't be able to turn/rotate
^ Realistically, the world is not divided into a two dimensional grid. :P

The inventory size is absolutely fine with me. As others have said, there are reasons for it. If you acknowledge at all that there's value in inventory space pnot being infinite, you're saying that you can see the value in players being challenged to think about what they carry and what they leave behind; how much challenge is then simply a matter of taste. What Diablo 3 (or any other game) does isn't relevant; this isn't an issue of demonstrably good design vs demonstrably bad design, it's just about different designs. The gaming world has room for both more limited (PoE, D2) inventories and more expansive ones (D3, Dragon Age 2 etc).

I have appreciated an auto-sort button in TQ and Dungeon Siege and so on, and if something like that were to be added here that'd be great, but I manage fine without.
Rotating items, yes please. Diablo style inventory/bigger inventory? No thanks.

I love the way you have to manage a lot more in this game (Inventory, gems, etc.). Actually that is why I like PoE. I can't stand the console style hand holding and dumbed down gameplay in most games these days (Diablo 3, Dragon Age 2).

When I played the D3 beta, the curious reduction in size of items actually made me care about them less when it was time to sort through my gear. Even with that much inventory space I found myself 'stoning' back to town quite often, definitely more often than in Path of Exile. Maybe I apply a certain pickiness to item acquisition in PoE that I did not in D3. Maybe.

Either way, I still appreciate the fact that larger items take up more space, because the original idea behind it was to simulate encumbrance. Of course, graphically, a set of plate mail could be the same size as a dagger or a pair of gloves, but that makes so little sense to me it's laughable.

And while you can try to compare the inventory sizes between the games, what's the maximum stash capacity of D3? Three tabs, and the majority of those you have to buy with in-game gold. And with PoE? 4 tabs *standard*, with no real limit to how many more you can purchase via micro-transactions.

So while you may want to laud ThatOtherGame's inventory system, you seem to completely overlook its *actual* hoarding capacity...Well, that's very...Interesting.
