Dungeon crawlers arn't ment for these type of controls, If you've ever played a game similar with these controls, you would understand how inaccurate moving is.
It doesn't work specifically because you don't have a "3d" field of view, only overhead, the way its suppose to be. |

i dont think WASD will work well, hoping for a beta key been refreshing my Email for 4 days stright now.........

I think the WASD control wil be good and the can give it a try, maybe an option where can be activated by those who want that kind of control. I would prefer to play with WASD instead of point and click, but that is my opinion.

Point&Click has to be the winner here. I personally think that it's too complicated controling a character with WASD from a 3rd person angle... I'd rather use those keys for shortcuts.

Even though I am typically one of those ranged or caster players, and the kiting would be easier with WASD than the Diablo style... after playing Bastion with a top-down WASD+Mouse control scheme, it felt so clunky I had to switch it up.
I went with a gamepad instead of the mouse though, which I really doubt would work properly for PoE, though the Diablo controls aren't that bad and it has been reused in other games such as Torchlight, seemingly with success. |

Bastion's controls felt pretty fluid to me. Keep in mind, with a top down sort of isometric game like that, holding W and A makes you move in a perfect line on a path going up and to the left, same with holding W and D for a path up and to the right.
I don't see how the organic caves in path of exile will make a difference whatsoever with either control scheme. Do you remember how annoying it was to click the doors and navigate through the Maggot Lair in Diablo II? The foreground typically gets in the way a lot more with point and click, which is never really an issue with WASD. |

the original post said that adding wsad would help dodge creeps better then a point and click? wsad is kinda only 4 directions, i wanna pvp a nub who would play with wsad,
