Drop Rate doesn't match difficulty level now....

Actually, you can: white items sell for wisdom scraps, but wisdom scrolls can be traded up into portal scrolls, which in turn can be traded up for transmutation orbs. Just ask Nessa.

Don't expect her to give you a fair deal on it, though.

Then why have magic/rare drops at all?

Getting 2-3 white items is not exciting. Getting 2-3 white items does not equate to a good risk vs. reward system. Getting 2-3 white items is boring and demoralizing.

If we're going to toss out the fun in magic/rare item-finding then drop some damn orbs or something at the very least.

There is no enjoyment in repeated junk-white drops off of bosses and if you take away the fun incentive of item drops, some people stop playing.

Blues and yellows are necessary to complete the Skinner Box, but for real power you must craft your own items.

And besides, finding a white 4-linked sword of the right colors is just as exciting (and far more useful) as finding a rare twig'n'berries with boosts to irrelevant stats.

Just because it's colored yellow, doesn't mean it's useful. But it does trigger the pleasure center in your brain and make you play more. So, mission accomplished.

How go you get transmutation shards from white items ?
All I get from white items are wisdom scrolls ?

Is there a way to convert wisdom scrolls to transmutation shards ?

You can't from white.

Selling unidentified blue items gives you shards of orbs of transmutation.

Selling identified blue items gives you shards of orbs of alteration.

Ok, I stand corrected. But the principle is the same.

Yes technically you can, but it's a little disingenuous to advertise it as such. The exchange rate at that level is pretty abysmal.

On the same token, you can say that you can trade transmutation orbs for orbs of fusing, but it'd take so many as to make it pretty silly.

The entire game is a Skinner Box and I'm well aware of how to craft. If you find your Skinner Box enjoyment out of receiving multiple whites from a boss well then good on ya. I however prefer my Skinner Box experience to be more colorful and less generic.

However, we hit Merveil, and upon killing her we got two whites and 1 blue. That is *NOT* in line with the trouble we had to go through to kill her (didn't have many lucky cold resist drops). This, combined with no chest, made it feel like a real kick to the balls when we finally finished her off.

Same thing happened to me. We needed a group of 3 and even then we had a very, very hard time with her. And what dropped? A few whites and a blue. I have absolutely no problem changing the droprates for blues like I said, but spending that miuch time and effort (now that the game is harder) for almost no reward (now that the rates are so low) seems off.

Try getting 3 whites all useless low level low socket items. What risk vs reward?

People do not get this, only magical items' drops nerfed a bit, rest is same what had been in 0.9.8

Is it that hard to understand ?
Nothing exclusive to be found on this. Drops are just fine.

I don't think you are paying attention to what people are saying.

Are you really of the opinion that Merveil dropping 2 whites and 1 blue in a two person group is "fine"?

There is nothing fine about that. It was advertised that boss difficulty would increase, and that combined with zone changes to make them more difficult to farm would lead to more significant rewards. This is not currently the case.
