Drop Rate doesn't match difficulty level now....
"Use the orbs, luke!"
Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable Just between you and me, you can craft much better stuff than 99% of the random drops. Collect a bunch of white junk, vendor it for transumation shards, find a nice item, apply magical transformation to the actual item you want. Ta-da! Collecting blues and yellows from corpses is not the way to do it. [Hardcore] Soldiers of the Wasteland - sotwguild.com

" Then why have magic/rare drops at all? Getting 2-3 white items is not exciting. Getting 2-3 white items does not equate to a good risk vs. reward system. Getting 2-3 white items is boring and demoralizing. If we're going to toss out the fun in magic/rare item-finding then drop some damn orbs or something at the very least. There is no enjoyment in repeated junk-white drops off of bosses and if you take away the fun incentive of item drops, some people stop playing. The nerfs will continue until morale improves. " Agreed. To a point I understand the orb system and its unique importance. And I have messed around a lot with creating my own magic stuff, which does end up being better. That being said, with the boss chests removed and the game being infinitely more difficult with decreased rewards, who wants to take on a challenging and interesting boss when you can just farm any random zone and get better loot? Make bosses and uniques have a somewhat higher yellow (not blue) drop rate, please. |

" This is where getting something good will really make you happy and well Last patches I had uber gear in 2-3 weeks. Drop rates should be low, maybe even lower it's good for economy orbs have more value and there is less inflation too. Some items in this post are currently unavailable.

" And yet, as a level 16 ranger I haven't found a single yellow item is relevant to my class/build. I understand this may be their way of adding difficulty to the game so it's cool, but they really need to find a better way, then, to reward players for something as difficult as Merveil. Maybe orbs are the answer here. |

" How go you get transmutation shards from white items ? All I get from white items are wisdom scrolls ? Is there a way to convert wisdom scrolls to transmutation shards ? Last edited by aaricia#2284 on May 9, 2012, 1:56:12 PM

Me and a buddy grouped up to roll through act 1 last night, and hit a lot of difficult areas. I'm glad to see that difficulty has ramped up, but the drop rates do seem a bit off.
Killing Brutus yielded us 3 rares which felt pretty nice. Removing the chest made me feel a bit empty though. However, we hit Merveil, and upon killing her we got two whites and 1 blue. That is *NOT* in line with the trouble we had to go through to kill her (didn't have many lucky cold resist drops). This, combined with no chest, made it feel like a real kick to the balls when we finally finished her off. Also, it may just be perception as I haven't done any real testing of the numbers, but I don't feel like the blues I do get are "more valuable". Maybe I misunderstood the intent of that, but I interpreted it as it would sell for more orb shards. I don't feel like this is any different, and certainly should compensate somewhat for the significantly lower blue droprate. Diamond Supporter since 2012-04-24.

" Drops are fun, yes, makes me happy. It's the tons of white garbage before that elusive drop that I find insulting. The nerfs will continue until morale improves.

" You can't from white. Selling unidentified blue items gives you shards of orbs of transmutation. Selling identified blue items gives you shards of orbs of alteration. Diamond Supporter since 2012-04-24.

Honestly there weren't many blues I picked up in the first place. Now I will just alchemy or transmute gold rings and amulets.
