Find a well linked weapon/armor etc. -> higher the quality by orbs -> make it rare by orbs -> change the specifications by orbs as u need it to ...et voila u got a self found item with prob better stats ;)

Playing self found is boring.
How is getting STUCK a level 57 fun? What are your options when you get stuck, farm zones far below your level and pray you get some decent gear?
Sounds like a blast.

It seems there's a lot of people raging over the multi-boxers inflating the economy for the "average joe". With that said, i've been playing entirely self-found (sans (1) decent 2 hander that i used on my ground slam/heavy strike maruarder). Granted i haven't made it to end game yet - my highest is the maurader at lvl 57. Currently he's kinda stuck due to a lack of gear.
Although i'm currently starting to level a LA duelist. Hopefully going ranged will let me get to end-game a little easier than with my maruarder.
For those out there who are really discouraged to the inflation of the economy have you considered or are you going to start playing self-found?
I've had a blast of a time and am worried that if i enter the realm of the trade channel it'll be like what happened when i opened up the ah in diablo 3 for the first time...
thoughts?
i play self-found, solo HC with my LA ranger.....PoE is hostile endgame for solo players (you will farm lvl66-68 blue maps only) and with looting system is hostile to group play...so around 75++ you will just farm docks with occasianal a lvl66 map that will yield you nothing (not even another lvl66 map to chain)
PoE is a complete hostile game for all kind of players except
a) griefers
b) lootwhores
c) multiboxers
pretty much the worst kind of gamers will find poe a decent game....the rest with IQ > 60 just grind till something better comes out (another game, itemization patch on d3 or whatever)
I think you're confused.
It's kinda funny how a solo self found player knows exactly what the player base is like in this game.
Let me guess, you ran into a few bad apples when you started playing and from then on assumed all players were that way?
I've played in public games in both leagues and in races with strangers since the game went into open beta, and the community is not bad.
No matter what game you play there's going to be plenty of assholes. (ever play dota2 or LoL?)

yeah every game has assholes and i understand that....but having systems that actually HELP them is another story.....the looting systems give to this assholes a way to GRIEF your experience; this is bad
in dota2/lol an asshole player can destroy your game but you can quit anytime and go to the next match
in PoE an asshole player can take your items...what you can do for that? even if you quit and go the next game the item will not come to you
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

if you're clueless about rolling maps maybe, getting to at least 82 is very easy solo

the definition of very easy is subjective...
as for being clueless i do not understand what you implying...if you imply that i must use chaos/exalt on lvl66 maps pumping the IQ of the map at 60% + just to have a chance to see a lvl70+ map to drop then yes i am clueless cause i do not want to waste a chaos of a "might get it back"
i run lvl <70 maps with maze/larger area with %monster pack size/magic/rare monsters always...and 90% of the time i am not getting another map to chain.....yeah i am clueless
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

Thanks for this thread! Enjoyed reading about fellow soloers.
I've not got any high level chars yet, primarily due to lack of time. highest is level 42 1H+Shield Marauder on default though I have some HCs I'm progressing too. He's becoming a little boring to play and his gear isn't going to protect him much longer but I've yet to find worthy replacements.
/rant on
Tuning drops and crafting for a global economy fed by players with a lot of game time breaks ARPGs for casual solo players imo. I don't give a f**k about the economy, I just want to enjoy my time in game and live off my own drops and crafting, thanks.
/rant off
I still enjoy the hack-n-slash element so I ain't planning to quit. I don't expect GGG to do anything to help solo players that will impact the economy in default or HC so I live in hope that we can eventually create our own leagues (completely divorced from HC/Default) with tweaked drop rates and crafting probabilities.
There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013

You are confused.
You don't own any items till they are in your bag. The current loot system is designed to give all party members a fair CHANCE at getting items.
Key word there is CHANCE. Just because the system gave you a better chance at looting an item doesn't automatically make it your item.
Once you can understand this, and the entire party has the same mentality, playing in public games is enjoyable.
Why do you think names and timers were removed from loot drops? (some) Players misunderstood the system.
