Floating combat text
place DAMAGE stats in a column where player can check his dps, average damage etc.

combat log would be better i think . a log that you can see your damge the items you picked up and stuff

Floating combat text is loved if it's programmed properly, just make sure everything spawned from it gets wiped at regular intervals, there's nothing worse than floating text that continually builds lag to the point of a system lockup.
I look forward to seeing it in the game at some point as a toggle option, also based on how this game has done so far, I have high hopes of it being done properly. Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.

Sorry to bump, but, is it coming?

I vote no. Could you imagine a full party with all the skills/spells going off and then numbers on top of this. O_o

i dont see whats so wrong in somethings that is optional. letting players choose if they want to see only normal dmg or crit dmg or both, only the dmg they do or everyone, or just the crit dmg everyone is doing, or nothing at all.

" I agree that combat log is useful. Maybe even a dps meter visible to party members. For theorycrafting and just for fun. Everything optional of course. Last edited by Redzor#3185 on Jan 19, 2013, 6:25:49 PM

" Because some things that are optional, aren't really optional. If it makes you play better, by doing the math for you, which is what it is doing, than its not really optional. If you have a pen and paper to solve an equation. While the guy next to you has a calculator, who's going to finish first? The teacher said calculators are optional. But in reality, they're mandatory. Otherwise, you're slower than everyone else at reaching the same answer. |

No floating combat text. It destroys the beauty of slashing monsters :-(

" It's still your choice whether you use it or not, that is optional. Just because you do better with it than you do without it, does not mean you're forced to use it, by your logic everybody should be forced to play on the lowest resolution possible. Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.
