Floating combat text
I know is a very old post.
I really like floating combat text it gives you a nice idea of what you are doing and is fun to see the number getting higher when you get a new passive/item. Still a combat chat log, that you can maybe dump somewhere and analyze is alot more helpful |

" Yeah, we really need this as an OPTION.. I like, but my mates not so much.. it's all good. |

I personally dont think they should be there. Just hit things till they die. Then i just refer to killing stuff as, one hitting. 2 hitting. 3 hit. Or, i need to level up more.
although as an option could be fine. Just not mandatory. Smoother than Smooth. Last edited by Moist#6523 on Dec 5, 2012, 11:54:38 PM

" Of course it should be an option, like you are not forced to have the items name always highlighted you should be able to switch off/on the combat text. Still, a combat chat log would be nice. So that the we could build some nice combat chat reader, that will show avarage DPS, map run speed, and all this nerdy numbers that all the hardcore players love to put in hughe, complex and futile excel files. |

Is this feature coming or not? I would love to see how much damage I am doing

I don't think it should be implemented. The reason is that while it seems optional, it's not. Many players will turn this option on (and feel obliged to do so), because it provides more information about the game and they'd feel as if they're missing out and gimping themselves by not using it.
It wouldn't actually be a matter of aestethic preference or not. No matter how much you'd like the game to look pretty, there are many who wouldn't sacrifice a gameplay advantage for a nicer looking game. A stupid (I admit) analogy would be to have an option for the Word paperclip helper guy (if you know who I mean) to pop up and point towards the nearest waypoint at all times. It'd be incredibly annoying and ugly, but a clear gameplay advantage and many people would use it wether they like it or not. The comparison is stupid, as I said, but FCT is essentially the same as this, only less severe. In my view it boils down to a design choice. Do we want everyone to use FCT or not? |

" Adding Floating Combat Text only adds more to the game for other users who actually utilize that kind of information. If it is completely optional in the UI section of the game then why would it be an issue. The default option is that it should be turned off, and if you would like to see how much damage is being dealt to you or how much damage you are dealing to your enemies then you should be able to see it somehow. Yesterday I was playing in HC and I almost got 2 shots by a rare mob. I guessed how much damage he did to me I said to my friend, "Man he took down my energy shield which is 110, and on top of that he damaged me for 150 HP" That was just a rough estimate from what I saw on my health bar. It would have been nice to see how we are doing against our enemies for the sake of people like me (I like to min-max and make the most out of my game, that is what makes it fun for me). As I said before, if it's an optional feature it will not bother anyone AT all. No one will feel "obliged" to enable to feature, you're not missing out on anything you're just choosing not to see floating combat text in your face amongst the hundreds of drops that come from enemies that are all over your screen. |

I would really love Floating Combat Text :)
Optional ofc. |

Newbie here - and I'm very surprised at a lack of floating combat text.
