Another cut-throat test

Well that was... interesting. I had 500-1500 ping the entire time, so i probably shouldn't have played, but there was no way i could possibly resist. I also haven't played in a couple months, while i wait for release (when items don't poof). A lot has changed and it took some getting used to. I couldn't remember my standard shortcut key-to-skill pairings, so i was overall pretty worthless.

My goal was to solo full clear everything, questing and levelling as high as possible, avoiding players, and dying the least possible.

I got killed 2-3 times by the same person in Terraces (the "12-0" guy), never noticing the warning message nor even his red X (only found out later that the red X was in fact there and what it looked like). Then i turned global off and could actually see the warning message of when someone had joined my instance. Didn't die again after that, but only reached clvl6 at my leisurely/avoidance pace.

It seemed a little cheesy, but necessary, to just leave an area whenever someone got nearby. For this reason i'm not sure i like the combination of warning message and red X. Too easy to just have 100% avoidance. Then again without at least one type of warning i probably couldn't play cutthroat, since i'd never be at the top of the food chain, ripe for the picking.

Another thing i'm not sure is intended, nor likely exploited much yet: /whois. With that in combination with the names of the players in an instance, a player can simply pick and choose his autowin targets, rather than face uncertain odds.

Overall was much fun, but i'm not so sure i'm made for HCCT after all. :P

Edit: oh, forgot the Hailrake story. Wow he's tough as nails now. I don't remember seeing this monster before. I actually thought i had somehow walked into an ice witch at first. He depleted my resources and killed me just as i lagged exiting the instance (heard the death/loot drop sound at the loading screen).

This is where i said in chat that half my items vanished, i'm pretty sure something bugged out here. I didn't actually die, but all my stuff dropped, so i immediately re-entered, no player was around, and my blue items were left behind yet my white basic bow gone? Doesn't make sense.

Wow, I had no idea I came 2nd - I spent most of the last half hour idling in town and chatting (too scared to go play because of the death squad).

seriously, I would join an instant to go after chris and would have 4-5 other people jumping on me. Hunting Chris is serious business.
Winner of the First Ever Cut-Throat Server Test, and Winner of the First Ever Cut-Throat League Event!
Lol... Chris you were the one person we kept trying to get, but you kept getting away! Lol thats the only problem I see with the server, is ports being so quick and spamable etc. There should be a timer between uses, forcing the player to either go to the zone line, or run back to the closest waypoint, or just wait till TP timer is up.

Also, for more long term server, once a player hits a certain level, the lower level difficulties shouldnt be open to him anymore. ie: Once you ding lvl 50, you cant enter Normal/Cruel anymore etc. That way some newer players can atleast fight people around there level etc.

I know, he got scared of my lvl 8 templar "ChrisHunter"
So he stayed in town for the last 30 minutes..

I think our 5 man group was more of a worry to him, every time we entered he left immediately.

Note i edited my post above to describe the bug i mentioned in chat.

Issues: After about mud flats people start to get a good amount of TPs and just instantly leave a zone after seeing "a player has joined the area" making hunting really depressing

It's not so much TPs (i didn't use a single one), it's that only 5 sec makes it easy to just exit game from anywhere and rejoin. The fact it spawns you back in town rather than at the spot you left, while neat in pve, seems a little too exploitable in pvp.

Hunting and hunted definitely felt similar to D2, not sure if that is what GGG is going for though.
