Poe Seems Poorly Optimized?

Idling in town I get nearly 300 fps yet fighting things with a few casters sometimes spikes down into the 40 fps range I don't see how this is happening.

I'm using a GTX 690, on of the best cards on the market right now and shouldn't be experiencing this time of frame rate spikes. Also running with an i7-2600k @ 4.4

Also when sitting in town afk my GPU gets up to extremely high temperatures even though I have an excellent case with multiple fans.

I ran GPU Temp and notices only one of the cores seems to be under load also when playing POE so it seems like it doesn't have any support for SLI, could be one of the problems.

I didn't know where to post this but I hoped some of the developers read this section.

Poe is a fantastic game but needs some better graphical optimization, cmon this is 2013.

We either need an FPS limiter built into the game at the very least, but better yet a way to support SLI so not just one core gets overworked. Might fix some of the problems with framerate spiking as well.

Took a screen shot as proof, this is just me idle in town

If you guys are aware of the problem sorry I didn't find any threads about this (one more thing that needs reworking is the forum search, doesnt work very well >.<)

Get some ice on your system jesus look at those temps. It is very poorly optimized though
"You don't have permission to access this area."

Dat search function.

Edit: A cursory search has informed me that newer cards simply run hotter. This temp isn't abnormal for the GPU, and POE isn't very well optimized at the moment, no.

Playing games like the new tomb raider and crysis 3 on very high settings It doesn't even get close to 80 degrees, it's only cause the FPS is so high and only using one of the cores.

I have found a temp fix if anyone else is having this issue, using a program called FPS limiter I set it to only allow 75 max FPS and temps stay under 70 degrees

OP: If your GPU core is over 85C, you might consider cleaning the dust out of your system. If you keep the inside of your case clean and your fans in working order already, then that kind of temp range is even more cause for concern. My lousy old GPU is handling this game reasonably well without any temperature issues (albeit at lower settings).

Thank you for reminding me, I haven't cleaned dust out since I built it late last year, that might help a bit, but still not the real issue here :P

Agree. I honestly don't see inside, so I can't tell what's wrong, but I am playing in windowed 1680x1050 with everything turned off or set to minimum possible value (talking about in game options) and I am still experiencing huge spikes and lags.

my hardware:
4x3GHz CPU
8GB RAM
4800 HD GLH (some special overclocked radeon)
Intel SSD drive
+ latest drivers

I am not saying this is the newest computer ever, but it's still powerful and can handle many 3D FPS games that have "better" graphics than PoE.

This issue imo ain't new.. we all know about Summon Skeletons totems, Arctic Breath etc... it's just ridiculous, that this issue is still here. We are getting new micro transactions every week and there is always "we continue to improve visual appearance"... but this poor performance is still with us.

TL;DR:
I have a good PC + I play PoE windowed with minimum details =
still terrible fps spikes (party farming docks = watch some 5fps action and pray to be alive when it ends)

I hear ya, I'd like to see some official response to this, even a "We are aware and working on it" or something would be nice. I hope they are working to fix this stuff and enable SLI yatta yatta

You should have some option to force SLI,if not in the nvidia CP then by external utility. and yes,an FPS limiter or enabling Vsync is the way to bring your temps down and avoid your card to waste gazillions of watts.
85 C° are no problem for your system. It´s hot but not too hot. It´s too "hot" if your card decrease it´s clock rate. That´s happening when the GPU messures 110 C° in most circumstances. But ya PoE has some problems regarding this.

Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

oh yes,85c° are a problem when the workload is about 63%. the gtx690 reaches around 80c° when at max load, usually sits between 60 and 70c°.
