BUILD OUT OF COMMISSION....NO LONGER VIABLE DUE TO IDIOTIC CHANGE TO IRON REFLEXES

I'm not going to re-iterate again why I didn't take the extra frenzy charge. All I will say to the 3 above posters is once you reach end game and you get good gear, you will quickly realize why an extra frenzy charge is not needed :)

But go ahead and remake, people gotta learn the hard way I guess.
Love this build and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've hit a bit of a wall with Act 3 Cruel, but it may just be because of my gear. I'm level 48 ATM and just now switched out my Death's Harp for a rare element bow I found. Just having a lot of trouble with getting resist gear and the chaos damage obliterates me. I also went from being able to 1-2 shot most mobs in Act 2 to being nowhere near that in Act 3. Had a bitch of a time with lightning Piety but finally managed it. Hopefully I'll find some decent resist gear soon. Not too worried about the damage as I'm sure that will work itself out as I level, I'm just having a hard time actually killing stuff ATM.

I also haven't found a single Bear Trap gem across three characters either as a drop or in rewards, so I guess I'm going to have to buy one soon. Also I don't know what I'd do without my Rejuvenation Totem, just wish it wouldn't get taken down in one or two hits.

This is my current gear
Spoiler

Crap, but i ran Cruel and 1st Act Merciless With no problems at all.
It's easy to grab 80% allres on Cruel, Mercy kinda difficult.

P.S. about traps - you can obtain them throught "Breaking some Eggs" quest ( reward for Shadow, Ranger and Marauder). I think it's 10 minutes with friend or less.
Will be online 06:00-08:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours)

I think it's a combination of not prioritizing your stats well, and not looking for the right items (to alc/chaos) to craft. I've used this spec on 3 characters and I not once EVER had a resist issue. The duelist I currently have had the worst luck so far an I'm capped on everything except cold which sits at 68%.

You need to make sure you keep all the life/resist gear you get so you have a buffer to shuffle around your stats as you prepress.

The talents in the passive also make it easy to get capped. I really never had a problem.

Lastly I think your damage is probably bad also due to bad itemization. You meet to get a high physical and get iron grip early, or go for an ele bow with added elemental stuff like cold, fire, lightning on jewelry. You should be having problems in that department either.

If you can't find a high physical lower item level bow just buy one they are practically being given away especially on softcore.

Also in regards to chaos damage, the life associated with this build + proper itemization on gear (life life) is designed to provide you with enough life pool to offset the chaos damage until you reach those very high maps 72+ You also need to learn to avoid the incoming damage. Like side stepping before poison bombs explode and stuff.

Following these basic guidelines should comfortably get you to maps with no problems :)

Shrug. Not sure I understand your reasoning. Frenzy is giving me 11% attack speed per charge and this applies to Lightning Arrow. I am skilled enough to keep my frenzy at max charge 100% of the time basically...

So at the least, it would help about twice as much as the attack speed bonus from Kraityn on Cruel, meaning you could swap quest rewards and come out ahead...

I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for this guide! =)

I wanted to be a special little snow flake so I made my first dude a physical ranger that used frenzy / rain of arrows. I'm not where I was on my ranger (ranger 75, this guy 61) but man, stuff melts sofa king fast!

So yeah, keep up the good work!

Of course you don't compare your not using chain. You need to get rid of faster attacks and use chain instead. Faster attacks inflates your sheet DPS only. But it terms of actual your doing way way less damage then you would be doing with chain.

You wil also notice your clear speed improvements with chain :)

Ahhhhh ok, thanks! That makes much more sense. I've never used Chain before, don't even have it, but I'll trade for it really quick and check it out :)

Good stuff, chains are fairly cheap now so obtaining one won't be an issue :)

So I've been using Chain instead of Faster Attacks like you mentioned and got it to the max level it can be right now. Honestly it is not clearing waves as fast as Faster Attacks and have returned to using that. At what point would Chain be better? I am thinking once I get a 5L item.
Thanks for the build info. That said I'm new and have a few comments on it. I'm working on my second duelist now. The first end up dying on the act 2 boss. An easy boss for me on my last 2 chars ( witch and marauder ). What cooked me here was the lack of health. I was pretty much 1.5 shotted. Had some minor damage and wammo dead.

For this build to be viable in HC it needs more health early on. There are several decent clusters that are reachable prior to the act 2 boss. %50 more life.

That said... Im taking a detour early on and beefing up this time. You have to be able to take some hits...

This build was designed for hardcore and was used originally as hardcore. I've never had a problem :) make sure you itemize yourself properly :)
