(HC/SC) Facebreaker + Cyclone - Fists of Fury Duelist [Videos Included]
" Hmm. I think Carcass/Abby might end up having more survivability simply because lots more DPS = lots more life leeched, but I completely agree on the affordability. 3-4ex for a Bringer vs 20ex for a 6L Carcass/Abby is massive for newer players like me, lol. Honestly thinking about getting a Bringer to replace my Carcass/Abby until I can work up the currency for a 6L. Last edited by Phylaris#5088 on May 29, 2013, 12:30:42 AM

" I had slightly higher dps with the Bringer of Rain helm (Cyclone, 20% Added fire, ConcEffect, Blood magic) than I did with an Abyssus and 5L Carcass (20% faster attacks and 20% Melee Physical instead of fire damage). I definitely would buy a Bringer of Rain if you're on a budget. As far as survivability goes.. Switching to Bringer of Rain wasn't as noticeable as I had hoped. Unfortunately the endurance charges, without using enduring cry, didn't have enough time to build to maximum quantity because monsters die too quickly to be continuously blocked. Additionally, I've found through my experience that most "close calls" are from effects or damage that Bringer of Rain doesn't reduce, nor Abyssus (generally) exacerbate; however, YMMV. From what I can see, the most useful portion about the Bringer of Rain is the life roll. The extra 150 or more hp is very substantial towards survivability, and it does give about the same armor/evasion as an Abyssus Carcass combo without the resists, but without the Abyssus penalty.
In regards to how Carcass damage is calculated, using a 3L Cyclone + Conc + Melee Phys: With Carcass = 6310 dps Without Carcass = 5915 dps. Carcass is approximately a 7% dps increase (tested with and without auras). However, an Abyssus does give a large chunk of + stats which may be important to using high dex equipment such as evasion shields. In other news, I have done a respec of the build to optimise hp since I figure that 8k dps is more than enough to clear content comfortably (with slight increases as I upgrade jewellery, gem levels and quality) to run a life leech cyclone. Have a + 30 dex node at the moment to use my shield, but will be fine once I swap out my ring to this once I get my resists in order.
Spoiler
From here I will respec the dex into the regen node in Templar, and get the 8%'s, finally moving on to the life cluster above Iron Reflexes again.

Moving along from equipment, has anyone tried vaal pact out? My build is a vaal pact, iron reflexes, resolute technique 2h mace cyclone stun build. I run with carnage heart, life leech support gem, and blood rage for around 25-30% life leech. If you are spinning, you are full life. Seriously, if i start spinning through 2 enemies and im at 10% life, ill be full in well under a second. I would strongly suggest some of you with the time and resources to try it out on a facebreaker build. The only issue is closing the distance between you and ranged attackers quickly. All i do is leapslam in the middle which stuns them all, and cyclone til clear.
Vaal pact makes for very hectic gameplay, but im loving it. If you can survive 1 hit, theres no mob out there that can outdamage your leech. |

" Thanks much for the testing acrosis. Obviously i was wong on how it was calculated. |

" AOE damage is a different damage modifier than, say, attack speed, so the total AOE damage itself acts as multiplier. If you have 10k dmg and a total of 40% aoe dmg boost, you end up with 14000. Carcass Jack's 12% is just an additive portion of that 40% in this example. So it's kind of like life nodes. An 8% HP node isn't going to multiply your actual HP by 1.08, but it'll tack on 8% to the overall multiplier. Same thing with AOE damage - the damage from Carcass Jack adds into the total aoe damage pool, and that final figure is what multiplies your original DPS. |

" Mm, I haven't tried it but I might since I just leveled. Not sure what to put in instead of Leap Strike, though. Facebreakers only get lightning warp as a movement skill, which doesn't seem ideal. |
|
" Used to dislike it due to cast lag, but it's not that bad if you link a quality warp with fastcast. I can beam very very quickly ^^ I actually rank it a close second to leap slam and in most cases it doesn't break my stride at all. Toupy - Lv93 Facebreaker Cyclone Duelist

" Im sure youd be fine just moving towards them at an angle to avoid projectiles until your within attack range. Also, just realized what my problem was with the damage calculation. I thought facebreaker had increased damage, not more. All is right in my head now. Last edited by Glutton#2577 on May 30, 2013, 1:45:07 AM

Melee buff incoming, with passive changes and subtle nerfs to life with buffs to armor; thoughts?
With the new buff to those physical belts, we might be able to replace Meginord's. Hoping there is a change to the physical formula in regards to melee weapon damage calculation, but I have a feeling that will make Facebreakers extremely overpowered. |
