[3.5] Occultist Vortex/Cold Snap ES/CI - Deathless and Safe Uber Elder and T16's
I guess I'll start with CI then convert to Shav's once I can afford a 6L Shav's haha
I recently finished Merc lab, at the very end of Act 10 now, right before the Kitava fight. I'm still using hella blues without any life, ES, slots, or anything haha. I think before finishing off Kitava, I'm going to try to see how Delve/Incursion/Betrayal/Bestiary works and how they can help me progress in the game.
The game is so smooth, though! It's literally just quicksilver through everything, dropping vortex for more flask charges. And occasionally use phase run if there's a short area with no monsters-- it's pretty nice. It's not a map wiper, but it's a really strong build.
I'd say the only issue is that it's my first time doing an ES build, so I'm getting destroyed by stuns, bleeding, freezing, etc. I think stuns stopped after I got the Occultist ascendency, so now it's just bleeds/freezing that's messin me up. Hopefully I can get to high tier maps, up my gear a bit, then do Uber lab and get rid of freeze once and for all

hey there. I've also just completed a10 and started mapping. farmed some chaos recipe for a small bank. took awhile to balance resistances with some 1-2c gear (and some passives). don't worry about the freeze. in the future you only need a bleeding flask. once you get uber the game will feel a lot smoother as well. I would suggest running a silver flask for onslaught (more MS) as well as a quartz flask (for phasing - if phase run is down). also personally I tend to flame dash shorter distances if there are no mobs. phase run is perfect to go in the pack and vortex the whole pack.
I stopped at T3, couldn't get any maps. To be fair, my resists are like 40/70/40 or somethin' haha. Getting ES gear seems like it'll be tricky
I'll get both an Onslaught anti-freeze for now, along with a bleeding then I should be set for a bit.
i'm using a tabula for now, 85k tooltip dps, around 5.25k ES. 80% all resists. might drop tabula for a 5L with some ES. i'm literally just alc and go. at this level just keep running maps, eventually you'll make currency over time. not bothering with revealing rares, just chaos recipe all. didn't even bother with all my gem slots and links. just socketing whatever supports I have for different skills. somewhat like an SSF playstyle. sometimes I find SSF more fun because I have to adapt and I need not care about the trade market hehe.

I'm an idiot-- I haven't been quoting you because I was thinking the "Q" was a magnifying glass or something LMAO.
Damn, that's huge DPS. I recently changed up my gears to gap out on lightning/cold resistance, and having 70% fire. I'm nowhere near your ES or damage, though. I'm just using an Obliteration Wand.
So the best strat would just be to chaos recipe as fast as I can until like higher tier maps? I hope I can make it haha. I think for now, my focus should be the 20% energy shield node, CI, then area of effect nodes to actually wipe out mobs.
The melee aspect of the build kind of sucks, though. Everything kills me so quicc, and switching to CI == no health pots is going to be very strange. Means I'm gonna have to hella kite as well as make sure I never get frozen or get uber lab asap. I'm pretty glad for the trials of Ascendencies, though. Completing one is like 5c that's pretty sweet

everyone starts from somewhere, no worries. to be fair "Q" does look like a magnifying glass.
as for whether chaos recipe is efficient, I would say as a player who doesnt like to be cumbered by trading, I find it efficient. there's many ways of "getting rich", it's all subjective by the level of wealth you hope to amass. I know of people who have multiple/tens of exalts at the end of the first day.
as for CI and melee, a large portion of your ES regen (before recharge kicks in) comes from your ascendancy - Vile Bastion. kill faster and regen faster is the strategy. I would suggest levelling using instead. the 5th and 6th link of vortex gives significant dps boost, which helps kill mobs quick enough that you dont need to tank them for long. also, before you get the weapon with "triggers socketed gems", you'll have to get used to putting down OOS/storm brand to proc EE and EO. so I'll target storm brand in a pack, flame dash in and vortex and all are dead. these are all mechanics that you should make full use of from your passive tree. all these knowledge comes from mastery of the build, so dont worry, everyone learns from scratch :)

I see, I guess for me I just want to simply play the game, so chaos recipe seems good for me as well!
I bought the item for 6c, was pretty cheap I guess. Have I not been triggering EO at all? I guess I'll put a point in EE then start using storm brand/orb of storms to do more damage.
Also, this may be a bit early, but can this build do Uber Lab easily? What ES do you recommend? Thanks!

quick update, completed uber lab. lvl 73 with 6.5k ES. very comfortable. just play super safe place a vortex run around izaro. you're better off taking trap damage than avoiding the traps and tanking izaro's hits. I would say 5.5k-6.5k ES would be comfortable. only 3rd body was a concern, but if you play safe, it should be ok. I had about 60k dps. I dont think anything below 30-40k would be advised (may be too slow and prone to mistakes).
as for EO, easy way is to see your status bar if you have a buff for EO. do not link your brand/oos to controlled destruction. it reduces your crit strike chance. otherwise pretty much it should be up all the time.
edit 1: 60k dps was tooltip. I estimate in POB it would be 200k shaper dps.

I see, nice! I think I'll try to do with it roughly 5.5k ES, or maybe I'll get a 5L chest and use an essence on it for some more ES. I'll probably try to find a quick wand as well to improve. How did you find all the trials so quickly? I've only managed to get one haha
EDIT: I also found a rare 1h scepter with like, 95% increased minion damage or so. If I can craft trigger socketed gems on it, should I use that over the Spine of the First Claimant?
Is 100% increased minion damage or cold damage over time multipliers more valuable?

spine of the claimant does a pretty good job, don't think there's a need to change for now. as for the trials, use /global 820. tonnes of people sharing their trials in maps. regarding minion damage, I have found it pretty similar, just use which ever you have, but I would always prioritize CDOT. on average it's a larger boost.
for this stage of the game don't be too concerned, you'd want something like this at the end.
