Any ETA on fixing these ridiculous AMD FPS drops? (e: Nvidia cards affected as well!)

Well, might well be that that is not the only problem.

But what is better in your opinion: getting at least limited help with something you might not have thought off, or just having no help or feed back at all?

And imagine: I didn't know until two days ago that I did have a secondary card in my pc... so guess what? It was not obvious to me that that card would be used instead of my AMD card!

It works fine for me now. If you don't believe me, it's your problem. But at least I get a decent amount of fps (meaning more than 7) now and can play. It did help me, it's up to you whether you try out stuff or not.

I get that. But whats better than 7FPS? 8? 9? I mean under a lot of mayhem this game tanks in performance. Its no ones fault but GGG's. They have poorly optimized how the spell effects work. I got from 150 FPS constant to 20 when LA are being spammed by the 5 other rangers in my group, especially on the docks. Then once they are done shooting their spams i am back up to 150 FPS. Its optimization. I can run BF3 at max with 50 people in an online game with no drops below 70, but this indie game causes my performance to tank.

I am sure there is small things people can do to improve their performance like you suggested but sadly it will still be a poorly optimized game at the moment. I really wish GGG would invest their time in their programming and coding instead of coming up with more spell effects and "Tiki totems" that do nothing but lag the game up even more. You should make sure the car is driveable before giving it a wax job.

Some people arent bothered by shitty performance and i understand that. But nothing aggravates me more knowing that i spent hundreds of dollars on graphics cards and processor upgrades just to see choppy performance in a game i know i should be able to max out with no issues. Its extremely frustrating to me. And i have quit games before because of it.

I thought I have only one too, that's why I posted this at all xD (and I am using a laptop, so shouldn't be a problem)

To check, start POE, then go on options, to the graphics tab (or whatever it's called) and check what kind of card is mentioned in the first option you can choose, I think it's 1 or two above the option whether you want to play windowed or fullscreen. In my options it's greyed out, meaning I can't change that option.

@Heinzemann I get enough fps now to at least play the game without wondering how a wisdom scroll that dropped suddenly disappeared. This is enough to me until there is a better way to solve this. I know it's frustrating (I mean, my pc should be able to run a lot more than poe too), but to me it's better than nothing. I'd rather play the game now than wait for a year or two until they fixed everything, so I'm okay with it for now...

It's greyed out for me as well. It's using: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Ok, you seem to have the same problem as I did.

First thing you should do is check if you can either right click on the poe client and select something like run with high end graphics card. If you don't see anything like that (I didn't), right click on your desktop. Go to configure switchable graphics. Now, if you have less of a problem than I did (xD), you should see something that lists your switchable graphics status, and an option of all the gpus you have. (and an option that tells you whether you want to automatically select a certain gpu if your computer is not plugged in.

If you don't see that, but something where you just can assign what kind of performance you want to use for which program (it will say something like: recently used programs with a list, and an option to choose performance types for specific programs), you can try that (assign high performance to poe) and check in poe again. That did not work for me though.

If all of this doesn't work, what you want to do is restart your pc. At the very beginning of restarting, you should see something (usually in the lower left I think), telling you to push a certain button to go into another menu (start up menu or something like that). For newer pcs, this usually doesn't show up very long, so you might have to restart a couple of times. The menu where you want to get to will either show you a list of a lot of options what you want to do, or should direct you to your bios right away. If you get to a list of options, you want to search for an option having to do with accessing your bios. Go there and search all the options for something saying switchable graphics (or anything having to do with your graphics cards). There you should have an option of either dynamic or fixed. Put it to fixed and exit (and save) the bios. Then go back to your desktop, right click and do the same thing as I said above.

It's possible that in your bios, you don't find any options for the graphics card. This is what happened to me. If this is the case, write again so I can tell you what you can try to do.

Tried the desktop thing, doesn't seem to help a lot.
I'm sure it's a flaw on GGG's side, I shouldn't have to screw around with settings when i can play other games just fine and on higher detail settings than PoE.

Just gonna bump this till I get an answer...feel free to help me

There's your problem, do some research (Use google) and read up on configuring your drivers to force the use of the high-end video card instead of the integrated video card. It is not a fault of the devs.
Computer specifications:

This is actually true. For my pc, it was a bios issue where my pc just wouldn't recognize that I can switch cards (which means, I had to update my bios). It's not GGG's fault if my PC has a bios that doesn't work the way it should, is it?

and btw, most of this is not screwing around, it's looking at your settings, and changing them if necessary. Screwing around would be doing stuff you shouldn't do if you're not experienced, like opening up your laptop to see if you actually have your cards plugged in (just an example, I know this would be the wrong way to go xD). Everything you'd have to do is do some research on what is actually wrong with your laptop and then fix it. I researched for mine, found out that I should be able to switch my graphics card but couldn't (went through a huuuge pile of updating drivers) and finally found out that I have to update my bios, did it, it worked. This is nothing GGG can do for you, and as I see it, your problem is not that your graphics card is not accepted or anything like this by the game, it's just that it's a low end graphics card the game is using right now, which is a fault of your laptop, which was probably caused by a setting in the bios.

There is nothing at all that GGG can do about users bios settings, and only if you do a full research on anything that might be wrong on your laptop first, they can actually look at their game and see if something's wrong on their side. (Which it probably is not, since your game is using the wrong graphics settings, which is obvious if your bios is set to only open everything on that card)

Buy Nvidia card.

Never get bothered again.

I have a nice nvidia card. along with a decent rig that I built a few years ago. I get horrible fps drops in a room with 5 people spamming lightning arrow.

I use the skill so I can't complain about people using it.. I just wish they changed it so it didnt cause so much lag.. or add further display options to take away some effects.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that your lag would be a lot worse if you had an AMD/ATI card rather than an nvidia card. I think us nvidia users are pretty lucky in that regard.
what about the new lightning arrow effects in this patch, did it solve any FPS problems ?

Improved the Ice Spear and Lightning Arrow effects. doesn't really say much
