I cannot for the life of me figure out a single reason to even consider taking CI. It's like a gun on a table, and clicking it is like picking it up and shooting yourself in the foot.

Chaos resistance is a joke compared to the down side. It is AT ABSOLUTE MOST 60% increase to your teeny tiny eHP from ES. Now take into account the fact that not many enemies actually deal chaos damage, and that half the one that do don't even deal full chaos damage. Add in the loss of all Life, constant stun/freeze/shock/burn and you have a recipe for disaster.

Uniques? Sure. I'll just go pick up a chayula, a dream fragment, and fairgraves at the corner deli. No biggie. Not to mention they suck at everything else other than their main advantage. Now I'll just die from the lack of ES rather than status effects. Brilliant.

Sometimes it's not about picking the most OP build possible, but playing a certain style that appeals to you.
I hated Chaos, the way it sucked your life from behind ES seemed...evil.
I hated the Chaos clouds in he sewers, died a few times before I recognised the graphic effect associated with it.
At level 55, I had -54% chaos res.
In one click, I had +100,a and can laugh at chaos dealers.

As beta players it's up to us to pick builds that appeal to us as individuals, and see how they pan out, NOT to just use this month's WTFBBBQ build and faceroll the game.

You do realize we aren't "beta" players. We weren't invited into some special club. Even during closed beta, we bought our way into the game(not saying it wasn't fair, they gave us back the money in the shop credit, just making a point, i was pumped to buy my way in honestly so I could play). This "open beta" is a soft launch, open beta is normally a month or so long period that is more of a giant stress test, then a time for changes. Online games are always being worked on and changed, that doesn't mean they are in beta forever though. The second they started taking money for microtransaction, this game left the true beta stage.

So our job is play whatever the hell we want, even if that is the WTFBBQ build and faceroll the game. Especially if we are paying customers. And if something feels off, we can chose to come here and talk about it, or ignore it if we want.

To the matter at hand, I have to agree, that it makes no sense to take stun/freeze/burn chance from a non existent health pool. Even if its what your health pool would be, its still going to be TINY. Even with a potion that removes frozen, you can tap out your potion so quick it wont matter(happened to me yesterday and I dont even have CI). They need to base it off of ES when you take CI. I dont personally use CI, and this is just one more reason for that.

Bloodrage deals chaos damage and your energy shield means jack, still takes away your HP. This is an advantage of CI

But your life going down a bit doesn't really matter when you have a 8k energy shield, he is right.

No, losing 4% of your life per sec is a BIG deal espacially with chaos dmg DoT and low life. You will run out of potions and die pretty quickly even without being attacked.
You also usually want lifeleech or life regen on your high ES not on your low life because of the higher amount.

@Devilnaut
Sure you can use "on full life" with every build, but with CI you are ALWAYS on full life!

A nice example of an ES based melee build is Kripp's Sweep Templar from CB:

In OB you cant have that much ES anymore, but 5k+ should still be possible (wich isnt that bad compared to life)
-> Unwavering Stance is a must have at least for melee CI builds.

Actually, we are beta players. The game is in open beta and we are players. We are players playing a beta game, therefore we are beta players.

You are not obligated to provide feedback. You can just play the game.

Just use this:

And there's a couple that stop freeze as well...

Even if it nerfs your damage/mana.... it is a decision to make if you find yourself getting frozen/stunned a lot. In any case, it is good for swapping in certain situations.

I just don't understand this new trend in complaining until the devs change something. Why don't you just let them make a game.

nice so i need to waste 2 item slots for shitty and expensive uniques to even make CI viable which is still overall inferior to full hp. looks like mystery is solved why theres like 1 CI char in top20 of hc ladder

With any build you are always on full life as long as your ES remains up. In a non-CI build, losing your ES results in you losing your 'full life' buff. In a CI build, losing your ES results in your death.

I don't think this is an advantage in CI's favour.

*Of course, it synergizes to an extent because it avoids chaos damage. But negating chaos damage is still the only true advantage that CI has.

Not a waste if it works. If you can't make CI work, then don't take it. There are other ways to play the game.

And that one character made it work.

yes, in its current form CI is pretty crap, running 68+ maps as ci currently.

Constant elemental ailments, constantly stun locked, pretty bad imo. have 3.5k ES.

hahahaha 3.5k ES thats your first problem
i play frost Ci iiq bot and with chayula and all my mana potion having dispel frozen and chilled i can say i don't really have a ailment problem.
Hp Hp everywhere
but really every time i look at a thread about builds or anything its allways stack hp or hp regen

but for a ci build to need to stack hp is slightly screwy
