Everyone's definition of melee varies a bit, some are a bit more strict than others, if you don't like it, don't use it I guess. I don't consider what I do true melee, others might.

Your melee weapon hits the enemy, its that simple.

If your definition of melee includes ranged aoe spells then you dont know what melee means.

If youre spamming a ranged attack from half or the whole screen away then you are not a melee build, you are not a melee fighter, you are a physical caster, like EK.

Melee sucks... until you start using ranged spells.

If youre not being hit then youre not going to experience the problems that melee players are talking about.

You can consider anything with range to be "not melee" if you want, that's fine. But equating GS to EK is factually incorrect and screams of an disingenuous argument. GS is not a spell, it's not affected by spell damage nodes. EK is not an attack, and isn't based on weapon damage or affected by melee nodes. This is patently obvious to anyone who has even looked the gems or the skill tree. Honestly, if you're still just butthurt that your shitty shadow build didn't work, go whine somewhere else. If you actually want to argue the merits of melee and discuss ways of improving it, starting making real arguments.

They just posted the 1 Week Details and unless things change, I won't be doing the 1 Week.

Wooow that reward structure is bad. Oh well. I'll probably go a couple days and see where things stand. It may be that very few people end up trying at all with the way that point dropoff is.

There seems to be a disconnect here. The rules Kripp set up are based on the current state of the game. If the gem states melee in it and the weapon is melee it is OK. The race rules were not created as an alternative to how GGG defines melee and ranged skills. So...get over it. If you don't like the rule set then don't play. It is that F'n simple.

This sounds fun and I'd like to participate but I would like a little clarification on something. If I want a skill gem from say, Brutus, from another class, I can just go do Brutus with that class and dump the gem in my stash for my main to pick up, correct? Now, does this mean that in order to get said skill gem, I have to go manmode on this Brutus alt character?

Heck yea, I've been trying to work on melee builds for a while now, but they always seem to pale in comparison (or even being picky: I end up using ground slam at its max range ala ranged attacking to survive). So I'm totally down for this.
