Good news, but i really doubt the "average user" is running 1000 series gfx cards etc. I have about 20 ppl in my friends list and based on what i've heard from them (when it comes to performance) only a few have that. I run the game fine (mostly) but i think you're overstating the specs of players. There's plenty of ppl that quit because POE is relatively badly optimized, so this should give them a chance, because with games it often is about the software optimization, not raw hardware. I mean you can have a better looking game run smoothly and at the same time a worse looking game run crappier, which shows that it's not hardware. Optimization is key.

Lol at the post where someone whined about the specs of the showcase pc being too high and then someone else said that "sure it's not ur avg pc, but for gaming it's low tier. Lmao get off your high horse, i for an example have a solid pc but i don't go around mocking others who don't. So the pc shown is a good one "not ur avg", but for gaming it's suddenly lowtier? What are you running NASA supercomputers or smth? /facepalm ... as if some random guy's subjective personal assesement proves what is a "gaming pc" and what isn't lmaoooo

Dude i dont have such pc, running i3 / 950gtx / 8gb ram. Its not mocking, its stating a fact. You like it or not that is low tier gaming pc (mid tier overall), not to play games from time to time but specifically for gaming.

Lol nah, it's just a subjective opinion. You can have a pentium 3 and play Morrowind on it and call it a gaming PC if you want.
Quit after Legion, rejoined PoE to see what the game's like now in 3.12.
I think it's about time to rename Whispering Ice to Blurred Ice or Whispering Blur.
Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything
Result: depressing mess

While a "50" card and an i5 Skylake is "modest" for someone building a gaming rig "a few months ago or right now," - it in no way represents the average PoE player's rig.

Except that "get an i5" has been the answer to gamers asking which CPU to get for the better part of a decade. The failure of AMD's Bulldozer architecture in 2011 cemented that.

Titans are (far) out of reach for most PoE players.

I agree.

And if I was recommending a gamer buy one, you might actually have a point.

The point is: Listing cards ranging from $400-$3,000 to come up with a list of those that "beat the 1050" is not relevant (to what I was saying at least.)

Which is about what the average player runs right now:

And it's not any of those (mostly expensive) listed cards, (as all that beat the 1050 by a large margin are,) nor is it a brand-new or 1 year old Skylake i5 with a 10-series card either.

(Wish I had it, lol.)

......

Most are still on DDR3 rigs, and really old i5's are dung heaps (for PoE). So a new rig, which means tossing out your old DDR3 ram....

Means a motherboard/RAM/CPU/GPU upgrade is actually what it would take for the "average poe player" to have results like this test.

And that means GGG's test is not about the average PoE player at all.
That's what has me worried.

Do I have to spend a ton of money to quit dying for a free to play game? :D
I hope they continue their work and it won't be so.

Fingers crossed!

[random rambling]
If I had seen this video as a teaser for PoE back in 2012, I probably would have cringed and thought "meh, just another flashy comic game with embarrassing fireworks" and not started playing.

What actually impressed me about PoE is how sober and reasonable, yet elegant shooting a Fireball at lvl 1 on the strand looked. I checked out which weapons mobs were holding to gauge their ability to damage me, and at some point one had glowing eyes, which was a very nice touch.
But we all know how it turned out... once I reached merciless and beefed up my skills, the cool visuals and details were gradually replaced with obtrusive effects.

So I wouldn't mind higher res textures, meshes and more love for detail. All that screen spanning particle nonsense is dispensable IMO.

A bit more on topic: I do hope all these improvements go into the DX9 client. Still playing on wine here (can't run DX11), still maintaining that I'll buy almost any Linux supporter pack (<= 1k EUR) instantly.
Really nice but still think

ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it

That may be the case.

But I specifically quoted and was responding to ZL0J. I never claimed that my list had any relevance to what you had said. I'm not sure taking my post out of context is entirely fair.

I'm not 'Sarno' on Discord. I don't know who that is.

They never stated anything about average poe players. They said "average user" meaning you dont need anything extraordinary (like lets say gtx 1080). Thats all it means, nothing more. The rig they showed is really nothing special.
