Death Penalties
" What would you call this "Path to life"? Path of Exile, perhaps? =). I am not really a fan of a "death pentaly" so much. People usually want to spend LESS time playing games, so if you have a method of death penalties that doesnt waste time I have already spent and also makes me want to play POE more, then I would be for it. |

" I think this is an excellent suggestion. Penalties for dying is not fun. And only really necessary in PvP combat. Death from PvE should never cause downtime. Where you must wait, or otherwise be unable to continue playing the game for any reason. Respawning in town with a symbolic 10% gold loss, having to beg your party members for a 'townportal of shame' is more than enough. :) In PvP you will need to keep the players from just charging directly back to take vengeance on the player that killed them. So an increased PvP damage debuff would be good. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" The PvP damage debuff is a really nice idea, but I also think it would be nice to add a resistance or defence reduction effect just so the player doesn't feel encouraged to keep rushing towards their enemy to try and beat them once they're out of potions or something like that. Or even make the damage recution debuff stack in time and strength. |

Good or bad idea would be if for example you play with someone and die than your party member can revive you with special scroll what can be obtained in town, so you dont get death penalty. But when u play solo you will actually get penalty when die, because you cant use scroll when you dead.So about dead penalty it absolutely cant be loosing exp or money because here we dont have currency like in other known games and about loosing exp is different story. How can you loose exp.Lets take example from real world where 2 people are boxing if someone looses that doesnt me that looser lost his fighting skill its just he lost because he was weaker, and even if you loose you got experience from it, because you will know next time what to do to not loose.
So I dont say that when we loose in game our penalty will be exp gain :D.But penalty would be something related to chars attributes, for example to become weaker for some time or exp would go slower from monsters for period of time. One Piece

" Why not have a steadily accruing (albeit small) bonus to XP gained or the rarity of items found whilst alive, that gets reset to 0 when you die? That way you reward players for not dying rather than punish them for dying. Not sure how it would work in PvP though. |

I vote for death penalty in solo play of 10-20% xp penalty + spawn in town, with the option to either buy back your body (with xp or other currency) OR run back to your body naked. However in co-op, a party member can use a special item, ie. res scroll, which can have magic properties to restore a portion of lost xp and resurrect you on the spot. This will encourage co-op play and streamline the process of getting back to battle.

I haven't played the game yet, but a percentage of exp gone like 10%-20% late game would be god awful.... well at least in the mmos that I played that had that system. Especially after I think Lvl 80 in Path of Exile the experience rate is dreadful in of itself from 81-100 (like months to get one LvL) so that'd be a major set back for people that continue to Lvl their characters and I think it'd make them quit that character. (Even if they're that high in Lvl and they hit mobs in a few hits there is a possibility of lag that may cause them to die)
The only thing that would make sense for the default league to me is leave it the way it is. I say this because the people who are in other leagues expect a major death penalty. To me the people in the default league are just casually gaming and enjoying the game in their own way. That is my opinion anyway. IGN: Konue

I have not read all 90 pages of posts; so here is my suggestion and hopefully no one else has posted on it yet:
Build it into the story line somehow; You have died, however the God/Goddess **umpty-scratch** favors you. Complete a small quest for this God/Goddess to regain your life and belongings. This could be small task or puzzle to complete AND as the player gains levels within the game the task/puzzle gets correspondingly harder. Failure to complete or accept the challenge means you choose to continue the game without your equipment. I now have Beta access; best of luck to all on getting your own key!

Anything except town respawn. I think it is annoying to have to walk all the way up to where you been before. Maybe some kind of Waypoint respawn? Or like some people mentionned, Currency items allowing you to respawn exactly where you died? Maybe also if you die alot a kind of sickness or weakness, demoralizing you, and your stats by a percentage for each death? I don't know about it, who agrees?
