WOOOOOOOOOH. It'll probably be something stupidly expensive though xD hahha

On my tests with rings (twice rares once magics) the outcome was always the lowest itemlevel of all rings from input

If this is true then the number of sockets an item can have will be limited by the lowest itemlevel ingredient.

I already mentioned this 3 pages ago ;)

I tested out a bunch of combinations on the 5-of-same-item=new item of same type and rarity recipe.

Results:
5 normal Arcanist Armor = Scroll of Wisdom
5 magical Arcanist Armor = 1 unidentified magical Arcanist Armor, with different sockets (1 blue), tested this recipe twice (really sold), can not repeat test further
6 magical Ornate Wand = 5 different outcomes depending on which 5 I use, order of wands does not matter, only inclusion in the recipe matters (in other words, the game is summing the random item seeds to get a seed for this new item), which vendor I used made no difference, different socket configurations on each result (in my case the 5 results were BLBB, B, RB, GLGLB, G, B where L indicates linked sockets).

Including orbs seems to have no effect on the rolled item (at least for blue recipe).

This hints at the possibility of rolling a 6 linked item by having a large enough collection of inputs (more than 5) to iterate through and see which combination of 5 produces the desired result...

Maybe i'm being dense here, but what am i missing? I thought they made it so you don't see the resulting sockets from recipes in the trade window?

Edit: oh hmm, what they fixed was that adding items doesn't reroll the sockets, wasn't it. I think i'm back in the loop. Trying different combinations of a set of items comes to the same thing as what was previously possible with adding random items, so i think they might just fix this as well anyway.

Somewhat relevant query, but which of the currency items are most valued by the community at large so far? :T

I've been hoarding rares for Augment Orbs using the rare/magic/normal same base item recipe, but I'm wondering if I should just mass sell them to clear room in my stash and get Alteration/Alchemy shards instead (already have a stack of Augments in my stash). >_>

I'm on the US server; Exalteds/Regals/Divines seem fairly in-demand. I recall seeing people looking for mass Alteration Orbs too, and hearing that Orbs of Regret are less valued somehow. :x

I am going for mass orb of alteration and orb of alchemy mostly.
Also keep in mind that orb of scouring are worth a lot with orb of alchemy being relatively common. You can buy an orb of scouring for 4 orbs of chance and that might be worth it.

I know items with attributes of increased quantity or rarity will give 3 shards of Alchemy.

Why does this particular item give 7 shards of Alchemy?

If you check http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/suffixmod you will see that 17% is the maximum possible for the "of Plunder" suffix. Maximum values of rarity/quantity mods give 7 instead of 3 shards.

Slightly technical:

The items "increased quantity" is called "of plunder" and thus a suffix. You then look at this page:

http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/suffixmod

- Now you find "Item Acquisition Mods"

under that category you find the following descriptions:
Name Level Stat Value
of Collecting 2 Item Found Quantity +% 5 to 10
of Gathering 32 Item Found Quantity +% 11 to 15
of Hoarding 55 Item Found Quantity +% 16 to 20
of Plunder 3 Item Found Rarity +% 8 to 17
of Raiding 30 Item Found Rarity +% 18 to 25
of Archaeology 53 Item Found Rarity +% 26 to 32

Your item has 17% "of plunder" and that is maximum-value for this Mod!
Excluding for certain items and for "of Collecting": When one of these named mods are at maximum value it will give 7 shards of alchemy.

Elizy put is mirror in the vendor window and said it gives 5 regal, 2 exalted, 1 divine. FYI.

Might be one we were missing.
