I think the problem is really good gear in poe is a huge advantage. In d2 the pvp was kinda nice cause the absolute best gear was only slightly better than the uniques/runewords etc. Like a really good circlet was only a little better than a shako, a really good rare amulet was only slightly better than a maras.

In poe, the difference between a 4 link and a 6 link is huge. Same with good rare jewerly vs good rare eleron jewerly. Hybrid max rolled weapons>good non hybrid rolled weapons, and by a lot. I think you should be rewarded for having good gear, that's part of the fun, but you shouldn't have such a huge advantage of just never being able to lose to somebody without equal gear.

I feel like d2 just got lucky when it came to pvp, it was really balanced, many builds could be top tier, and you could still compete without putting a ton of wealth into a character. Poe would need to change a lot about the game itself to become like this, until then I completely agree your success in pvp is completely dependant upon what gear you are using.

For reference, I'm currently rank 1 on the pvp torment ladder, and even I can admit to what the OP is saying.

I also don't agree that the solution is nerfing builds/skill gems. This won't help at all, yes it's good to allow other builds to compete other than bow/flicker, but it still doesn't fix the core problems with the game.

I didn't spend as much as you, barely 15 ex total on PrettyBoy, yet I believe I can go toe to toe with you. Being top in PvP isn't all about gear. I've seen guys with 6 links and top pdps weapons not even make top 20.

Gear is an element, and a significant one being we're in an ARPG, but top 10 isn't a list of how much people spent on their builds.

Skyforth your argument is flawed and here's why. Until you can show me you can beat EVERY SINGLE BUILD BE IT CASTER, BOW, OR MELEE, with just one build WITHOUT GEAR SWAPS (coz gear swapping to wanderlust doesn't take 100ex, therefore not wealth related), then you can't prove that it's just a matter of wealth and not strategy, skill, or anything else of the sort.

There is no one GG build no matter how much ex you put into it. That's why Fyndel has different builds used vs different people. Throw all the ex you want but unless you know what the hell you're doing, you're just wasting all that currency.

I'm still using a 5l on HC. PvP events are all about killing more than you lose to, since you will always lose.

And i know you're prettyboy, but im talking about my HC character. SC was just a test.

We'll just hafta wait for season 2 on the temp leagues to see then. Some from gladiators will be lld-ing on torment and bloodlines when it comes, and no way can someone cry foul over gear then.

im waiting to change my internet provider back home cause I cant play for 1 minute right now without flat lining for 20 sec, but I'd like to fight your new HC char. Its giving a lot of the melee's on HC quite a challenge.
