" You'll be happy (or unhappy) to know that you have nothing to look forward to because regardless of how good your gear is, lightning thorns will still own you if you melee AoE. ohh well, im talking from my own experience. if i do not hit like 6 of em, all with lightning thorns, im just fine

From what I've observed, the skill just retaliates with a crapload of lightning damage similar to tempest shield, with a totally unfair difference that it activates on every damn hit and tempest rolls on block only. Also, like with tempest, damage done doesn't seem to matter so it's not really reflected but returned damage, so slow attackers that do a lot of damage have a little easier time as long as they don't hit too much shielded.
And that's a load of crap. This shit needs to be removed, severely toned down damage-wise which would be a bad idea since slow attackers wouldn't even feel it then, or ideally made to work exactly like tempest shield (guardsman can block so that would work, and yes, archers would need to watch out too then). As soon as I see those bitches... sorry, meant to say witches, I remove cyclone from my hotbar as that would be suicide, plain and simple. Then I try to leap slam the witches but that doesn't work very well if the guardsman group is too large as a whole herd of them charges at you while you stomp the witches, and desync being what it is these days, we all know how ugly that can get. And that sucks, that character has no real trouble with any particular enemy type while lightning witches make him shit the pants he most conveniently wears. And all the while, range lovers just go pew-pew and they're gone. Seriously? " Probably a marohi user or another slow hitter, right? 3.5 attacks per second dual wield. as i said, with good gear the problem goes away. was same with my friend shadow. tho yee, they are freakin annoying till then, and hittin to many lightning thorns can kill u.

" Well, the only solution for lightning thorns that I can see is breaking the resist limit, and if I'm required to do that just because of one single spell that gives me trouble, then I'd rather not bother. Nah, they will probably do something to it sooner or later, best to just shelve the cyclone builds until then or egg-thread the barracks and avoid some maps. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" So how good exactly is your gear then? I have 3.6k hp, 82 all resists, 10k armor, 4 endurance charges and 12 LL using cyclone with enfeeble, and I still get pretty much 2-3shot by it. I'm playing on hc and maps with those mages are just really annoying and tedious. |

is there any hope dat this sh.. gets fixed?
im playing a pyhsical cyclone(1,7k dps) marauder with 4,1k life 83 all resist and im getting melted even on 1 creep with thorns it seems to be buggy.....so far my opinion i hope GGG is gonna fix this anyhow, dont know if its bugged or just "op". |

The thing that I can never figure out is, with as little as 3% life regeneration plus 8% life leech I can cyclone over both magic reflect and physical reflect mobs, yet I waffle when I pop both a granite and topaz flask against 3 blackguards.
I swear that lightning thorns returns a set amount of damage per hit that ignores armor and resists. |

Yeah, no shit you don't understand what's wrong with Lightning Thorns, your build can completely ignore it. Like 99% of all other threats in the game. Meanwhile, I'm watching my friend with tons of life, great gear, awesome DPS, and over-capped res with purity cyclone one mob and die all but instantly. And for builds that work like his, there's no way around it - their damage is based almost entirely around APS, and short of switching to alternate weapon set Marohi Erqi for these situations, he's stuck with either doing no damage and letting whatever mob has the thorns use him as a toothpick in the meanwhile, or praying that he doesn't suddenly drop dead, even just from single-targeting the mobs. Lightning thorns is whack. It all but completely disables a whole lot of builds, completely destroys any chance at AoE melee has, and makes the game very hard to play for builds that already have enough trouble as is. There is no analogy for ranged users, and this despite the fact that range is inherently that much stronger in this game. Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting!
